10 Questions for Canadian Mini O’s Racers | #28 Brendan Carrington
By Billy Rainford
Once again, we had a strong contingent of Canadian amateur racers head south to the Mini O’s to race both Supercross and Motocross. Since it would have been impossible to snag them all for interviews when the racing ended on Saturday before they left for home, we’ve decided to ask them all the same 10 questions.
#28 Brendan Carrington
Direct Motocross: How old are you and where are you from?
Brendan Carrington: I am 13 years old and I am from Ottawa, Canada.
How did you get into Motocross?
My mum and dad bought me a Suzuki JR50 when I was 5 because I wanted to do the summer motocross camp at Sand Del Lee, the local track. I really loved it. At the time, Dylan Wright, a Canadian pro, was one of my instructors. I did the camp the next year too and then I started racing.
How many times have you been to the Mini O’s?
This was my first time at Mini O’s and hopefully not the last.
What did you like better, SX or MX?
I liked motocross the most because I was more comfortable on that kind of track. Although SX is fun, I rode better and more confidently on MX. Also, that was my first time on a supercross track.
What was your best race on the SX track? (Sorry, they all get the same questions)
My best race, in my opinion, was the Mini Sr. (12-15) class LCQ because I rode really smoothly and fast even after going down at the start.
What was your best race on the MX track?
Even though I raced two mains, my best race on the MX was also an LCQ where I qualified 5th after being last off the start and working my way up.
What did you think of the event?
Who impressed you the most that you saw race?
#411 Nick Romano impressed me the most because of how much speed he carried around the track and his riding style is overall smooth.
Do you plan on going back?
What are your winter plans?
My plans for this winter are mostly just snowboarding, skating and keeping overall fitness at the gym.
Who would you like to thank?
I would like to thank my mom but especially my dad for the amazing amount of time and effort he puts into keeping the bikes in perfect condition. Next, big thanks goes to all my sponsors – without them I wouldn’t be where I am: FXR Moto/FXR Racing, Nihilo Concepts, Factory Connection, Atlas Brace, Mobius Braces, Wheelsport, MD Distributions, Mika Metals, Casselman Performance, Factory Seat and Aventum IP Law LLP. Thank you for all the support!
