2018 Husqvarna FX350 Impressions

By Jeff McConkey

When I first got the news that I was going to be riding the 2018 Husqvarna FX350, I was very excited. I have long been a fan of the 350cc and truly believe it is the perfect Vet bike. My first impression, it was very easy to ride and go fast on right away. I didn’t adjust bars or levers and I still felt right at home. The FX350 had great power all of the way through the gears and never seemed to fall off.

I had the opportunity to ride this same bike on the Motocross track as well as an in the woods. As much as I loved it on the moto track, I was equally impressed at how well it performed in the woods. I was able to lug the bike a gear high through the woods and it still had enough ‘grunt’ when needed to get me out of trouble and get the front end up when needed.

I found that the bike turned really well in all situations and it never really tried to spike me or stand me up in the tight corners. The great thing about the 350 is that you can either lug it a gear high, almost like a 450, or you can rev it to the moon like a 250 2-stroke. It really is the perfect bike for any application. It has enough grunt down low, but it was very usable and not arm-jerking power. The transition through the gears was very smooth and no gear really fell off at any point.

The suspension was top notch right out of the box. It could handle the chop and rough breaking bumps with ease and really sat in the rut through the corners. I never really felt like it wanted to buck or load up on me and I actually looked forward to the rough stuff, instead of avoiding it like normal.

The 2018 model felt very easy to ride. With a few minor tweaks to the controls, I was set and very comfortable with the rider cockpit. I was able to move around with ease, and the larger off-road tank was never an issue. I am not a fan of kickstands on a bike, but, wow, are they handy when taking a break in the bush. I enjoyed the fit and finish of the machine and thought it looked great.

Final Impression:

This is a great bike right out of the box. I was very impressed with how fast it was and how well it handled all types of terrain with ease. The 2018 FX350 could be a force on the local track and enduro track by just throwing on a set of numbers and going a few clicks in either direction with the suspension. It was definitely one of my favourite bikes to throw a leg over.

Do yourself a favour and check out your local Husqvarna dealer, and don’t miss out on a great bike you can moto and hit the woods with.
