Brigden, Ontario, racer, #72 Cole Thompson competed in Saturday’s round of the Monster Energy AMA Supercross in Indianapolis. Unfortunately, his night didn’t go as planned.

We spoke with his older brother/mechanic, Kyle Thompson, today to find out what happened and how Cole is doing.

While cole was passing into 9th place late in the main event, he and #50 Luke Renzland were trying to get around a lapped rider in the whoops section. Renzland “jumped into Cole” and Cole caught his own handlebars in the throat.

Cole hit the ground pretty hard but was able to walk off the track on his own. The medics were concerned about the possibility of his throat swelling, so they watched him closely before giving him the OK.

Cole is sore but should be fine after a couple days and has already returned to Tallahassee, Florida, where he will continue to train and prepare for this weekend in Detroit, Michigan.

Cole was scored with a 19th place and currently sits 20th in points in the 250 East.
