It was unusually cold and windy for round 7 of 8 in the 2019 Future West Moto Arenacross Championships in Chilliwack, BC Friday night. There were a good number of fans in the stands for a Friday, as they are notoriously quieter than Saturday nights.
We’ve only got one more round to go tonight back at Chilliwack Heritage Park and Kyle Beaton has given the riders a really nice and challenging track to race.
Here’s a look at some of the racing action from a full night of racing.
SInce the flagger was hit and injured at an earlier round there have been some big safety changes made so that racing can continue here. These lights are now used to warn riders of a problem ahead.
Nobody is allowed on the track when it’s hot. Even the flaggers are on the outside of the fences.
Ryan Lockhart wears his official’s hat now. He also raced the Plus 30 class.
#518 Parker Hatt from Calgary won the 50 (4-6) class.
With one of my new favourite names, #81 Cash Halkyard won the older 50cc class the 708.
Nobody was going to touch #19 Kiana Sache in the Ladies class. Her streak continues into the final round tonight.
#15 Tyson Dubuc won the 85 (12-16) class.
#21 Graeme Laybourn used this great start to win the 65 Open class.
#8 Calib Caughlin won New Kid Beginner.
Julien Benek and Deviyn Smith had some fun out front in the Pit Bike race.
Devyn won 250 Junior but this is him on his Pit Bike again.
#888 Burg Giliomee won Open Intermediate.
#12 Luke Svensson took the Schoolboy class.
#101 Ryan Lockhart had his way with the Plus 30 class.
Behind him in the mixed gate it was #170 Julien Benek taking the 125 All Stars win.
#15 Tyson Dubuc got out to a great start in the Supermini class.
#170 Julien Benek is racing Intermediate and Supermini and made the pass to take the win.
#310 Mitchel Crews lit the candles in the Open Junior Main.
Julien leading the 250 Intermediate class early.
BC has got some fast up-and-comers in the Intermediate classes. Benek eventually took the win in the 250 Intermediate class.
#58 Blake Davies took the win in the final race of the evening, 85 (7-11).
We’re back in the barn tonight for the final round of racing. See you at the races…
