McThoughts | Toronto Supercross | 250 Class

By Jeff McConkey

The 250 East headed to Toronto and put on a show all night long. The heat races had you on the edge of your seat and the main event was just as good. Zach Osborne has a pretty solid 12-point lead and looks to be in control. The East has many potential winners, but it also has many riders making mistakes. I feel the riders need to smooth it out a lot if they plan to run with Osborne. There’s lots of racing left and I don’t think it’s even close to being over, yet. Here are the results and my thoughts:

250 podium: Zach Osborne, Adam Cianciarulo, Christian Craig | Tyler Spikman photo

1st Zach Osborne: Zach seems like a different guy this season. I truly believe it has to do with trainer, Aldon Baker. His starts are very good, his fitness is great and he’s riding very well early on this season.

2nd Adam Ciancirulo: Adam thought he “rode like shit.” I think he rode well, but I think he has much more to show us. He seems pretty fearless in the whoops, I just don’t want to see him get bit. He will win one soon.

3rd Christian Craig: Decent first race back from injury. He was gifted a little with a podium. He’s way too talented not to be fighting for wins. 2017 just doesn’t seem to be agreeing with Craig.

4th Colt Nichols: Colt looked really good all day long and in his heat race. He had me thinking he could fight for a win. He had a good ride, and if it wasn’t for a crash, he had a solid podium.

5th Dylan Ferrandis: Wow, Dylan was fired up in Toronto. He showed a lot of aggression, and he wasn’t afraid of anyone. He needs to smooth out a bit in the future, but the future is bright.

6th Joey Savatgy: Joey made a bunch of uncharacteristic mistakes. I’m not sure why so many mistakes, but he needs to fight back and leave Daytona with a win.

7th Jordan Smith: Jordan has the speed and looks good this season. He got pushed around a bit and I’d like to see him do more pushing. He’s going to need better starts if he wants podiums or to chase that first win.

8th Kyle Peters: Another very good ride for Kyle. He moved forward well, and with a good start, he should have no problem running around 5th or 6th every weekend.

9th Cameron McAdoo: Solid 9th for the rookie. He looks good, and will continue to get better. I’d like to see him get a start and run up front for a bit.

10th Anthony Rodriguez: Anthony has speed, but he needs to get a good start to run with the top guys. I still think he has what it takes to run in the top 5. He just has to prove it now.

Biggest Stud: Colt Nichols is my stud. He was doubtful to even be racing, now he has his first heat race win and should have had his 2nd podium this season.

Biggest Dud: What is with the Martin Brothers and SX?

Biggest Surprise: I didn’t think we’d see this many mistakes from Savatgy. I kind of had him and Osborne switching places.

Cole Thompson Watch: Cole looked good, but his starts need to be better. He’s inching closer to the top 10, but he should be around 7th or 8th.

MC’s “G’d Up from the Feet Up” Award: Osborne looked good from the feet up. His red and white SG12 boots went perfectly into his Fly gear and right on up to his Rockstar Airoh helmet.

See you on the beach in Daytona.
