Before Danny B left DMX for his new hotshot gig at Yamaha, he was a Sturgess Cycle/Suzuki sponsored rider and had some really cool custom decals printed up by Gord Gilliatt of Podium Grafix for his RM-Z250. Now that he's cheering for James Stewart
instead of Chad Reed
(and his BFF, Kyle Keast
), however, the bike will go unused. (Well until some lucky individual buys it from Sturgess Cycle.) Before DB returned his Suzuki, though, Gord designed and printed custom decals for it and was promised to have them featured on DMX. So in an effort to keep Gord from writing us hate mail or removing Danny from his buddy list, here's the lowdown on Podium's work....

| With "Giver" moving over to Yamaha Canada, the official DMX test bike didn't get too many miles (or "incidents") put on it, resulting in its still sharp looking figure. Wow, check out those top notch Podium Grafix graphics! |

Is it possible to trick out a bike's decals? Kind of, sort of with Podium's "gripper" style vinyl. It might even help keep your leg stapled to the bike when railing a rut.... |
Why should you consider Podium Grafix for your custom decal work? To begin with, Gord uses the thickest of the thick when it comes to vinyl (18mil!) and promises it to be tougher and harder than most other brands. And for your rad shrouds, you can choose between the typical, glossy vinyl, or the trick looking "gripper" stuff that is 24mil thick. Gord then takes one of his pre-designed templates, which are available for most late model bikes, and places your desired logos where ever you want'em. Most of you probably know that when it comes to bike work, even with something as simple as placing stickers, Danny is no good at it. Fortunately, Podium's decals are so easy to apply, that even Danny managed to apply them with only a few wrinkles to show.
Gord's custom decal kits come with complete coverage for your numberplates, rad shrouds, rear/front fender, airbox, fork guards and swingarms.
If you want to look good on the track , and on the box, go with Podium Grafix!

Here's a little moto history trivia for you: who wore this number in their first year on the AMA SX/MX tour? (Hint: it was in the early `80's and he was riding a privateer Yamaha.) Send your answer to steve@directmotocross.com. First correct answer wins a DMX tee! |

mm? Hmmmm
Not to sound like an engineer, but (I am one)...let's picture sticking these graphics on a bike if they were indeed 16mm (or 24mm) thick! 16mm is over 5/8"...that's thick! 24mm is almost a full inch...wow! The true thickness unit in reality is "mil" not millimeter, where 1 mil = 0.001" or 39 mil = 1mm. All in all, these graphics are thick. Ok, lesson is over.
