Manitoba Race Report: Farm Boys Raceway

Brandon’s Farm Boys Raceway played host to round five of the Westside Honda Spring Provincial Championship series. The great turnout of racers and fans were treated to fantastic weather, a perfectly prepared track and great racing in many classes!

For those of you concerned after the last race report, we can happily report that Mel Penner was able to get his 250 back from his son Joshua without incident. Penner put it to good use picking up third overall in the Vet Junior class with a 4-3 day.

Mark Sexton (34) battles Richmond Morin in the first Supermini moto. Sexton is having a strong spring series and put in matching 2-3 finishes for third overall in both the 85cc 12-16 and Supermini classes behind the 1-2 punch of Morin and Brayden Blaine.

Three was the number of the day for Noah Jacobson who went 3-3 for third overall in the 50cc 4-6 class.

Jesse Nikkel (120) got to the front of the pack in a hurry in the MX-1 Junior class and stayed there all day long. Nikkel’s 1-1 day put him on top of the box ahead of Stefan Rohm and Kirk Green.

Mike Higginbotham took the last podium spot in the MX-2 Beginner class with 3-3 finishes. Brent Thiessen (1-1) and Brent Foote (2-2) took the top two spots.

Stuart Brincheski had to put his 2008 race bike into action but it didn’t seem to slow him down any in Brandon. Brincheski ended up second overall in the MX-2 Intermediate class behind Josh Pfrimmer and ahead of Marcus Giesbrecht. Brincheski also used a strong second in moto two of the Youth class to take fifth overall with 12-2 finishes.

Farm Boys Raceway promoter Craig Hargreaves found time to race two classes. Hargreaves took the overall in the 25+ class to go with his second overall in the Vet Master class.

Noah Robinson just missed a podium spot in the 65cc 7-9 class taking fourth overall behind the podium trio of D.J. Burmey, Jaxton Unrau and Andre Peters.

Evan Taylor cracked the top five in MX-3 Junior with a pair of fifth place finishes for fifth overall.

MX-1 Beginner action saw the moto two tie breaker come into effect as Jeff Dalton’s 2-1 day topped the 1-2 finishes of Dustin Dyck.

Transcanada Motorsports Brady Breemersch seems to be back up to speed. Breemersch who suffered a shoulder separation at round one of the series has worked hard to rehab his shoulder and get back to riding at 100 percent. Breemersch took second overall in MX-2 Pro behind the Formula Suzuki of Aaron Pfrimmer
and ahead of his Transcanada teammate and brother Jeremy Breemersch . In MX-1 Pro action Breemersch took the third spot on the box behind Pfrimmer and the Westside Honda of Eddie Anderson.

Lawrence Hamm showed the 40+ class the fast way around the track taking both moto wins and the overall. Renold Sawatsky and Duane Beischer round out the top three.

Lauren Gilmore picked up third overall in the Ladies class behind Jamie Burmey and Carmen Regier.

Eric Fardoe has been quietly putting in some strong rides of late. Fardoe used a 2-6 day to take second overall in the MX-2 Junior class.

Brian Klassen had a strong day in the 65cc 10-11 class. Klassen put in 5-4 rides for fourth overall behind the podium of Jordan Devloo, Dylan Williamson and Jordan Gledhill.

Richard Vanderwerf (139) grabs a 40+ B class holeshot on his way to second overall.

Jacob Gnidziejko took fourth overall in the 85cc 7-11 class with 4-5 finishes.

Chris Giesbrecht made an impact in his first appearance of the season in the MX-1 Intermediate class. Giesbrecht went 3-3 for second overall behind Josh Pfrimmer and ahead of Lindsay Masse.

Keegan Watkins-McIntyre took fourth overall in the 50cc 7-8 class behind the usual podium of Jaxton Unrau, Adam Wiebe and Radek Unrau.

Dylan Wiebe grabbed second in the Youth B main. Joining Wiebe on the podium was main winner Brayden Foster and third place finisher Dustin Konzelman.
