Catching Up with... Kornel Nemeth

The "who's that guy?" award at the opening round of the Kamloops CMRC national was won by Hungary's Kornel Nemeth. The big strapping young lad from Hungary rides the German Championships and was a GP rider before that. His sixth overall at the deep sand track in Lommel probably makes him one of the favorites this weekend and I'd say that sneaky Andy White has himself a ringer! A very nice, humble guy, I emailed Kornel and got this reply back, his english isn't the greatest but you can see that he's excited about this weekend's race.

DMX: Are you looking forward to this weekend’s race?

Kornel Nemeth: Yes, for sure, I had a good race in Kamloops, after this race I came home, and rode a bunch of other races and did pretty good so I hope its going be the same thing this weekend on Gopher Dunes.

What have you been up since you left Kamloops?

I saw you in Germany and then I won a 2 hour cross country race and last weekend got a second in German championships. My starts this year have not been so good, I’ve been working on it, but this weekend was same shit as before haha so I should work on it again. Also last weekend came from back to second, which is not a bad thing but if someone is faster on the track than you, then can't get him.

Kornel is known as a fashion god in Hungary.

Have you been riding in the sand to prepare for this race?

I’ve been home for a week in Hungary, and I've been riding on sand. It felt good, but on this track I’m always good because I like this track soooooo much :) let’s see, but I think it’s going to be ok...

Have you been following the Canadian series at all since you left?

Not every race, but I checked some of it. Facciotti is good, but I want to have a very good race this weekend, not only for myself, also for KTM Canada and for Orange Motorsports/RTR Performance as well. Those guys help me a lot, so I want to repay them back something and the best thing what I can do, that i win this weekend in Canada...

Are you bringing your suspension and such for this weekend?

Yep, sure, I was just packing my stuff into my bag. I’m going to take some more underwear with me because its sand haha...

You can accuse DMX of a lot of things, but you can't accuse us of not bringing the hype! Nemeth will be in the mix for a win this weekend, that's Matthes' gold lock guaranteed pick.

How do you hope to do this weekend?

I wanna win, but I won`t ride at 110% to try to win and put myself down. The first thing to me is that I need to win the German championships
