Manitoba Motocross Association Race Report: Moto Park X Altona

Round two of the Headingley Sport Shop Fall Provincial Championship series was held at Altona’s Moto Park X amid the hoopla of the towns’ annual Sunflower festival. Several classes had extra motivated racers with some generous prize packages courtesy of Altona Farm Service, Oakley Canada and Makita Canada.

Mark Sexton grabbed himself some of the Oakley swag with a second place finish in the 85cc 12-16 class behind fellow Oakley prize winner Richmond Morin. Sexton also picked up a podium spot with third overall behind Morin and Ryan Linto in the Supermini class. |

Stacy Groening captured three of four motos on the day on his way to victory in the Vet Junior class and a second place finish to Olaf Rohm in the 40+ B class. |

Brian Klassen appears to get quicker and more confident each week. Klassen saw his 4-2 rides earn him second overall in the 65cc 10-11 class behind Jordan Devloo and ahead of Jordan Gledhill. |

Rio Stoesz stood on top of the box in the MX-2 Junior class after 2-1 finishes followed by Justin Gevoga with 1-2 rides. Stoesz and Gevoga then swapped spots on the box in MX-3 Junior. |

Cole Osborne lost out on the Makita cordless impact driver awarded to top spot in the MX-1 Beginner class by one spot. Hopefully a second place trophy and a spot in this weeks race report helps soothe the sting of the loss. |

Formula Suzuki’s Adam Pfeiffer finally got the monkey off his back picking up his first moto win of the season in the first MX-2 Pro moto. Pfeiffer took third overall with 1-6 rides in MX-2 Pro behind the 4-1 and 2-3 finishes of his Formula Suzuki teammates Aaron and Josh Pfrimmer. |

Not only can Harms Dozer Works kingpin Mike Harms build and prep a track he can still get around one very quickly. Harms pummeled the Vet Master class going 1-1 and also took home third overall in the MX-1 Pro class. |

Marcus Giesbrecht picked up the win in the first MX-2 Intermediate moto and ended up with second overall with a 1-2 tally, losing the tie breaker to Tyler Bergen’s 2-1 scores. |

Two was the number of the day for Andre Peters where his 2-2 finishes earned him second overall in the 65cc 7-9 class. |

Another Makita cordless impact driver was up for grabs in the Youth B main. Unfortunately for Kirk Green he came up just short, taking second spot. Green also picked up second overall in the MX-1 Junior class. |

Sam Wilman narrowly missed the podium in the 50cc 4-6 class with 8-4 finishes for fourth overall. |

Scott Qually left Altona with a new pair of Oakley Fives as his reward for surviving two crash littered MX-2 Beginner motos and posting 3-2 rides to secure the overall. Keldon McGuirk (5-1) and Michael Poirier (1-6) rounded out the podium. |
