Walton 2009 - The Move In

By James Lissimore

The largest celebration of Canadian motocross, the Walton Trans-Can, kicked off today in Walton, Ontario with the big move in. Though the Lee's expected attendance to be down due to the economy, it is certainly not the case as the entire place is packed and they had to start parking amateurs on the Pro side of the track for the first time. That's a great sign for the health of Canadian motocross and we should be in for a great week of racing. In the age classes, the appearance of top riders such as Josh Woods, Marco Dube, Chuck Mesley and possibly even the King himself, Jean-Sebastien Roy will certainly add some entertainment. Though it rained Monday night, forecasts are looking great for the rest of the week. If you get a chance, definitely make the trip to Walton for some of the best amateur racing in the country and top it off with the crowning of the Monster Energy CMRC National Champions on Sunday. Who will be crowned the King of Walton this weekend and get to hoist the sword? Stay tuned.....

Since there was no racing today, the kids occupied themselves by sessioning this quarterpipe that was in the trees. It's left over from the old Export A days.
The track and vendor's row. It rained hard Monday night but the forecast is for sunshine for the rest of the week.
Former Canadian motocross champ, Marco Dube, is here to race +25 and Vet Master and to promote the boot company he is distributing now, Forma Boots.
Former 125 East champion, Josh Woods, is also here to race the +25 class. Between Woods, Dube, Gauldy and Chuck Mesley there should be some good racing in the +25 class this week.
