Gopher Dunes CMRC Fox High Point Series Finale
Gopher Dunes
was the site of this years final race as the CMRC Fox High Point series wrapped up the 2009 season on a very nice (albeit cold in the morning) fall day. There was frost in the morning covering most of the property, leaving the riders to come up with anyway possible to keep warm for practice and 1st motos.
With turnout a little lighter then I expected, the day went quite fast. But was understandable due to the weather and a couple other races going on elsewhere.
With some moaning in the pits, some of the more "experienced" riders took to the track first.

With frost still on the ground and a crust of ice on the puddles, +25 and +40 hit the track first. Gauldy #2 (for the day), rode Yamaha's stock 2010 YZ450F to a clean sweep of the younger of the two classes with a 1st overall (1-1). #142 Chris Cooper took 2nd with (2-2) finishes. And #365 Geoffrey Wiles was good for 3rd (3-3). |

+40 has some rubbing going on off the line in the first race through the first corner with #26 Dan Tricco making it around the corner first. He'd finish 2nd OA with (3-2) finishes. #757 Ken Gilmour |

Both 85cc classes were on the track at the same time with a split start. In the 12-16 class #95 Cody Blint lead everyone through the first couple corners but ended up just off the podium with (2-5) finishes. |

#244 Matt Herreman came from way outside in the first MX2 Jr. moto. to take the holeshot and win the first moto. He had a much worse 2nd moto putting him 4th OA (1-7). #818 Josh Shea was more consistant for 2nd OA (2-3). 3rd went to #28 Robert Mittler |

#47 Hayden Halstead |

Next was the MX2 Beg. class. After spending most of the year racing in the TVR club. #756 Jeff Chulo rode his 3rd CMRC race of the year taking 1st OA (1-1) and quickly being told he'd be riding Jr. at his next CMRC race. He's definately gotten alot faster since starting racing at the beginning of this year. |

The other podium riders in MX2 Beg. look like they could stand to be in Jr. next year also. #609 Justin Bechard went 2nd OA (2-2) and #914 Dalton Biggar took 3rd (3-3). |

Although the Youth class didn't have many riders, it was pretty deep with talent. #1 Colton Facciotti |

#281 Jeremy Medaglia |

There were only a handful of ladies that took the the track. #4 Jocelyn Killough |

Lots of the riders were having some issues negotiating the pro 180 degree turn at the front of the track. #312 Mark Nesbitt demonstrates this on his way to a 1st OA (2-1) in MX1 Jr. #47 Hayden Halstead (1-DNF) won the 1st race but was forced to retire in the 2nd moto with clutch problems. |

#401 Zach Koncir finished 2nd OA (8-2) after a bad 1st moto. He followed that up with a 2nd in the final moto. #252 Thomas Jeffery |

Schoolboy was also pretty light with participants. #134 Justin Roney rode his KTM to 2 moto wins for 1st OA. #621 Haydon Lothian took the checkered 2nd in both motos (2-2). And #258 Jonathan Doyle finshed in 3rd OA (4-3). |

#26 Dan Tricco finished both Vet Jr. motos at the front of the pack for 1st OA (1-1). #637 Rolf Meeser was 2nd OA (2-2) and #52 Andrew Adres rounded out the top 3 with (4-3) finishes. |

#244 Matt Herreman was hauling the mail winning both GP Jr. motos for 1st OA. #312 Mark Nesbitt played catchup both motos to end up with 2nd OA (3-2). #47 Hayden Halstead finished off the trophy positions with 3rd OA (2-5). |

Colton and Gauldy placed 1st and 2nd respectively in GP ProAm. The 2nd moto saw #281 Jeremy Medaglia and #158 Jordan Churcher battle for 3rd almost all moto. Churcher being able to pull away from Jeremy on the straightaways with his 450, but Jeremy would catch him in some of the corners on his 250. |

The chase went on until nearing the end of the race, Medaglia went by in 3rd with Jordan no where in sight. A few moments later the 450 went by looking like it could use a new set of bars. Jeremy went 3rd OA (4-3) and Jordan 4th OA with (3-6). It was a good race for both Kawi's though. |
Over on the peewee track I managed to catch one race of the Vintage bike races. The Schuster crew had widened and re-worked the track to be more double rear shock friendly. It was fun to see all the retro gear, air cooled engines and open face helmets hit the track. The race I did see saw #16D on a Can Am spank most of his class. He was hitting all the doubles that most dare not jump.

85c got some traction showing that even though those bikes may be a little on the old side, they've still have some power behind them. |
