It’s going to be a good weekend! I can already feel it in the air. I am sitting here typing this 19th Edition of the DMX Frid’Eh Update out in the sunshine on my porch as I stare up in the sky and for once don’t see any rain clouds, no snowflakes or any other sort of physical shape falling from the sky. We have the best supercross season ever (at least in my life time) about to come to an end and we have great races going on all across our country this weekend. After watching the SX finals I will bet most clubs will have their gates full with riders who are just pumped up after tomorrow night’s main event.

This week's update is once again brought to you by the great people at Hindle Exhaust! Hindle is the industry leader in Canada when it comes to making aftermarket exhaust systems for your bikes! I know they spent some time week desiging and testing a new system with Liam O'Farrell so they are no doubt prepared to outfit your 2011 machine. Make sure you check out www.hindle.com to see all the systems Hindla has to offer!

This week’s edition of the update goes out to honorary Canadian Eric Nye
. Eric had a good season going into 2010 until he broke his wrist at the Riverglade
National. After winning the championship in 2008 and finishing runner up to Maier
in 2009, Eric no doubt had some high expectations for himself. Well the news is out now and we unfortunately won’t be seeing Eric up in Canada this summer. I had the chance to interview him this week which you can check out right here. Eric was a great addition to the series and you could tell in his voice he was sad he won’t be up here. Either way he has himself set up for a great life ahead of him and is even getting married to his fiancé Lyndsey in September! Congrats Eric and we wish you the best from everyone here at DMX.

Not a whole lot of new news in the industry this week. The KTM team had to cancel their 3 days of suspension testing with Factory Connection in the states due to horrible weather but they will get at it soon.
Speaking of Factory Connection there was some big news that broke this week. First off I want to say congratulations to Mike Haist who will be excepting his new position at FC in the states. Mike is one of the best at what he does and we will yet again have another Canadian down south helping developed suspension and bikes for high profile AMA riders. Allison was able to catch up with Mike this week after the news broke so she will have all the details on that when we post the interview on Monday!
We do have a few spots left for the Liam O’Farrell and Richard Grey
Motocross School tomorrow at the Carruthers Ranch. Click this link for details and give me an email if you’re interested in signing up for a great day. Lunch will be provided!
There seems to be lots of news coming out of the Schraders camp this week. They just announced the official deal with SMX racing with Shawn Maffenbeier
and Denaye Giroux
which is going to be great for the series. We will see a whole new rig and team appearance in the pits which is exactly what this series needs. Check out this awesome photo of Denaye's race bike we stole of ther Schraders Facebook page!

Kerry Riess of Calgary Alberta will be competing in the Mexican 1000 Rally taking place this weekend, May 4th thru 8th. Although riding solo in the event his entry listing is #45 Team Canada (a.k.a. “The Red Dragon”). He is riding a Honda CRF450X that he has modified himself to run on E85 Ethanol fuel as this 4 day event is only open to vintage and alternate fuel vehicles.

If you’re in Ontario this weekend make sure you check out the Motopark Moto Partee read the full PR here and make sure you get your food ordered! Also the Eastern ANQ at Sand Del Lee is a go! KT says the sun is shining and chances are they will be watering this weekend!
Also Rex from MX for Children sent us this link today. Check out this story on Noah Jacobs and how the MX for Children impacted him at Toronto SX. It is a great read!
Sorry that is all I have this week guys, I know it was short but I’ll let the rest of the crew finish it off for you. Happy Mothers day to all those moto moms out there! Go Reed!
Ok, here's James with his West Coast take on moto this week...
Moto is really starting to hit its stride here on the west coast now. After being gone for the better part of a month it was really nice to have some awesome weather and get out to the always scenic Agassiz Motocross track in nearby Agassiz, BC. It might not be the most technical track out there but with its layout alongside the mountain, running through the forest, it's certainly one of my favorite places to shoot. If you haven't had a chance, check out my photos from the race in my photo report and in my gallery on my website.

It's another solid weekend of racing this weekend with round four of the CMA BC Championship series taking place at nearby Mission Raceway, plus the Whispering Pines track in Kamloops is hosting a round of the CMRC Interior series so there's plenty of racing action if you're a moto fan in BC. With only a month to go before the kick off of the CMRC Canadian Motocross Nationals I'd imagine we might see a solid pro turnout at Kamloops as riders try and get as much track time as possible before the series kicks off there on the first weekend of June.

After contesting the entire National series last year on a Yamaha, Kevin Lepp is ready to continue his road trip adventure again in 2011 on his new Honda. |

Like most people, I'm pretty excited about this weekends final round of the Monster Energy AMA Supercross series. Originally, I was a little bummed about not being there in person but with how crazy this series has been I'm actually looking forward to getting to watch the race live on Speed channel. When I'm shooting a race I never see anything anyways as I'm focused on getting the shot and it's pretty much like tunnel vision. I'm going to enjoy watching it all unfold on the couch with a beer in hand and the sweet sounds of Ralph and Jeff. Plus, as Kyle mentioned above, I'm California bound on Wednesday and I'll be at the USGP next weekend so that's going to more than make up for not being in Vegas. After taking in two Motocross Des Nations, I'm excited to get a chance to shoot a round of the GP series and its unique blend of culture and technology.
Ok, that's it for me this week. Bring on the final round!
Hey guys, Stephen Shannon here! It’s another short one for me this week. Not much is new this week with no off-road racing going on out west due to the deep snow pack. There’s no races taking place this weekend, but next weekend the Okanagan Hare Scrambles Series kicks off in Silver Creek, BC. This race is notoriously rocky and dusty, but hopefully the cooler weather will help the dust situation. I’ve heard rumours of some new trails being cut for the race, so hopefully it’s a great race!

Silver Creek should be a good one! |
I won’t be checking out the Silver Creek race as the Orofino Loggercross is taking place next Saturday in Orofino, Idaho. I attended this event a couple of years ago and was absolutely blown away with it. The entire town gets behind the event and it is one of the funnest, most exciting events I’ve ever been to. Unfortunately due to scheduling conflicts I missed it last year, but I’ll be heading down this year to get a full report on the action (and maybe even try my luck in the amateur class...we’ll see). Most of the top Endurocross pros will be there, including Cory Graffunder
. Cory won the event in 2010 and will be looking for a repeat. For all you Canadians, Orofino is a great event both to compete in and to watch. With the recent announcement that the X Games will be hosting the first round of the AMA Endurocross series, Orofino would be a good chance to test your skills and who knows, maybe even get an invite to the X Games!

Nothing like a little endurocross practice with the Hett family! |
Just a reminder, this Sunday is Mothers’ Day. There are a lot of moto moms out there supporting all forms of racing so make sure you thank them this Sunday! This week’s Singletracks was a tribute to all of the ‘Motorcycle Mamas’ out there and if you haven’t had a chance to read it yet, here’s a link: http://www.directmotocross.com/news/offroad/2011/05/singletracks-racers-....
That’s it for this week, now it’s off to the Hett family’s secret endurocross and off-road training grounds for some much needed practice!
Hello all, it's Allison checking in from the greater Grey Bruce area. With the Mother's Day weekend here, my daughter has been coming home from daycare covered in paint, no doubt after making some priceless handprint craft that I will receive on Sunday morning. What I also hope to receive on Sunday morning is a toddler-free pass to go shoot the CMRC Spring Series race at MotoPark. Heck I might even try to get out at night - you know after the streetlights are on-- and hit the MotoPark Party to watch the Team Canada documentary and the Vegas SX on Saturday. I for one am super-pumped that MotoPark is back on the CMRC schedule, as it's the closest Ontario track to my house and also a great facility for a weekend of racing.

| Saskatchewan's Shawn Maffenbeier could be a player in the 2011 series. |
| James Lissimore photo |
I had a chance to catch up with Saskatchewan rider Shawn Maffenbeier this week and I have to say it was refreshing to hear a young rider sound so determined about his future. Shawn had a great year in 2010 and I am confident he can better that finish in 2011. What is great to hear is that he's got huge long term goals, and that he knows what sort of work he has to put in to ultimately be a Canadian champion. Maybe having another Canadian champ from Saskatchewan isn't that far off after all? You can read the full interview right here.
I also got to talk to Factory Connection's Mike Haist this week after the big announcement that he's taking on an R&D role with the U.S. Factory Connection headquarters. If you know Mike, you know he is passionate about the sport and his job. This is an exciting time for him, but also a tough time as he's leaving behind a lot of friends and customers in Canada. We all encourage our Canadian riders to go head to head with the best down south, so I say we do the same for our Canadian industry folk. Just look where it's gotten Matthes! Watch for the full interview with Mike early this week.
Lastly, I got a call from my old buddy and former Racer X Canada Factory Rider for a Day headman, Brett Dailey all the way from New Zealand. For anyone who loved hanging with that guy at the races, I'd like to assure you that his heart is still here. He's been avoiding the internet all winter to watch the SX broadcast unspoiled, and his three daughters and his wife all have favourite riders they cheer for. I can just picture the whole Dailey crew hunkered down this weekend, cheering for RV, The Chad, and Dungey, although Brett admitted he was really pulling for a JS7 title... better luck next year.
