Calgary Photo Report

After escaping most of last season without any mud races(we just had a couple wet motos at the end of the day at Sand Del Lee) we were due here in the Canadian Nationals and it finally caught up to us yesterday at Calgary's Wild Rose MX park as heavy rains the night before made for challenging conditions and we also were treated to showers on and off all day(and some hail!) to really keep things exciting. In the end though it was more of the status quo as the Red Bull Blackfoot Yamaha duo of Colton Facciotti
and Tyler Medaglia
kept their unbeaten streaks going with clean sweeps in both classes. Here's more of what happened yesterday at Calgary...

With quite a bit of water coming down on Saturday night, track workers were working hard to divert as much water off the track as possible before the day could get underway.
With the muddy conditions, the teams were working overtime to prepare their bikes to deal with the slop.
Former BC privateer standout, Milo Christie(L) was on hand to support his good friend, Josh Penner(R), who was making his first national appearance of the year.
Colton Facciotti erased any memories he had from his crash at Calgary the year before by taking another clean sweep and running his win streak to six motos.
Denaye Giroux clinched the first championship of the 2011 season when she won the final moto at Calgary to take the Womens West Coast title.
After going down in the first turn of moto one, Austin Politelli grabbed a big holeshot in moto two.
Jeremy Medaglia continues to be one of the top riders in MX2 and was on the podium again with 2-3 moto scores.
Former Canadian national competitor, Jeff Northrop, was back up in Canada this weekend to hang out and represent in his new job with FMF.
Kaven Benoit had a great battle with his teammate Medaglia in the second MX2 moto. Medaglia managed to pass Benoit to take the final podium spot.
Austin Politelli had his best ride of the Canadian series. After going down in the first turn of moto one, he remounted at the back of the pack and put on one of the best charges in years as he cut all the way through the pack to take third. In the second moto he grabbed the holeshot and battled with Medaglia for a bit before taking second and second overall on the day.
Sierra Roth battles with Missy Hackett during the final Women's moto. She took third for her first trip to the podium.
Despite falling, Klatt actually kept Facciotti in sight for most of the first MX1 moto, a small victory in itself with how dominant Facciotti has been so far.
Matt Goerke rode well in the first moto, grabbing fourth place but fell in moto two and finished 10th for 7th overall.
Kaven Benoit went down in the first turn of the first MX2 moto and got run over by several riders. Luckily, he was able to remount and charge back to 5th.
Bobby Kiniry rode great in the rainy conditions of the final moto, taking third place but only finished 12th in the first moto after crashing.
Spencer Knowles was looking strong in the mud but got a bit too aggresive in the opening laps of moto one and went off the track and down the bank. He came back in moto two to take a solid 6th place.
Like Hoyer, Shawn Maffenbeier is another of the young Canadian riders who've been riding well in MX1. He had his best ride to date, taking his first top 5 with 6-6 scores for 5th.
Topher Ingalls leads Tyler Medaglia in moto one. Ingalls finished 4th in moto one and 5th in moto two for 5th overall.
