Walton Saturday

That's it. The amateur program here at the 2011 Parts Canada TransCan is a wrap and all the championships have been decided. After great weather all week we finally had thunderstorms and heavy rains this afternoon that caused the final moto to get cancelled but with any luck tomorrow will be dry and we'll have one last great day of racing. You can check out www.motoregistry.ca to see who all the big winners were this year but here's a few photos from todays action. I'll do a more indepth report on the weeks festivities later in the week but for now we've still got one more big event to take care of - tomorrow's Pro National. Stay tuned to DMX for all the action....
Davey Fraser book-ended his Walton week with a win in the Youth class. He might have been the Youth class champ if not for having to drag Dave Blanchett's bike in the second moto.
Instead it was Josh Woods taking the Youth class title, making him the winningest rider in TransCan history.
Ty Shemko was impressive all week. He grabbed a convincing moto win in the MX2 Junior A class and was the winner of our DMX Total Devotion award.
RJ Marnoch took the championship in the MX2 Junior A class and was the winner of the Yamaha Factory Ride award.
I don't think I've seen a winner be one of the last riders to take a checkered flag but that happened in today's MX1 Junior moto when lightning forced them to throw the red flag checkered with a lap to go and just after moto winner, Matt Davenport, had crossed the finish line. Even though he didn't get to celebrate it in the winners circle, Davenport also took the championship in the class.
Kate McKerroll managed to end Denaye Giroux's winning streak in the Women's class, taking the final moto win.
Brad Dool continued his up and down week with a win in the MX1 Intermediate class to take the championship but fell in the MX3 class and had to come back to 3rd.
Pennyslvania's Alex O'Dell grabbed the final Schoolboy moto win and his 2-1-1 scores gave him the title in that class.
There are several big name riders racing the Pro National tomorrow. One of the most watched will be Eleven10 Mods Honda rider, Darryn Durham, who will be lining up in the MX2 class.
Another rider that is receiving a lot of hype is our own top amateur rider, Cole Thompson, who is making his pro debut in the MX1 class tomorrow fresh off a title at Loretta Lynn's in the 450 B class.
After running number 2 all week, Julien Bill will be lining up tomorrow with the number 225 on his Honda.

RJ Marnoch
won the Yamaha Canada "Factory Ride" Sponsorship at this year's TransCan which earned him the use of a 2012 YZ of his choice and a $2500 parts credit that can be used on parts, accessories, gear, oils and lubricants for next season. It was not a "Factory Rider for a day" award. Kudos to Yamaha and RJ!
