Rough Cuts: Parry Sound, ON CEC Rounds 7 & 8
By the time the Royal Distributing Canadian Enduro Championship rolled to it's final stop at Parry Sound, Ontario, Sept 19/20, the first time enduro racing series had become the story of the year. No one should have been surprised. World Enduro Canada organizers combined the coolest parts of every style of dirt bike racing, threw in some extra-gnarly challenges and gathered enough industry support to convince over 30 Pros to travel across the country.
While there was never any doubt that Off-Road Pros like Bobby Prochnau
(#7), Jason Schrage
(#8) and Geoff Nelson
(#84) can haul ass, the media response to the new CEC series elevated their moto-status from obscurity to heroes. The big picture isn't just about the Pro riders, though. It's the amateurs that came out to each of the eight rounds to prove themselves in the toughest racing series in Canada. Building a new generation of great Canadian riders, ones capable of competing at any kind of dirt bike race in the world, is what the Royal Distributing Canadian Enduro Championship is really all about...plus it's fun to watch!
