Opening Ceremonies ‘Cheer-O-Meter’ Podium | Detroit SX
By Billy Rainford
It’s time for the not-so-scientific results from the Opening Ceremonies ‘Cheer-O-Meter’ from the Detroit Supercross at Ford Field.
According to Bigwave’s finely-tuned-yet-old-and-compromised ear, here’s the cheer podium from Round 8 of the Monster Energy AMA Supercross series:
1st – #94 Ken Roczen
Everyone loves a comeback story and the fans are fully aware of what Kenny has gone through these past 2 years and really let him hear it Saturday night in Detroit.
2nd – #22 Chad Reed
Until now, Chad has been the clear-cut winner of these things at every round I’ve been at live this season. Although back in the day you would often hear the odd “boo birds” when Chad was introduced, you now hear nothing but applause and respect for the 36-year-old Australian racer who has endeared himself to the fans with his long-term dedication to the sport.
3rd – #3 Eli Tomac
Eli has shown himself to be the man’s man of the 450 class. I think the crowd really respects his no-nonsense approach to the sport. Rarely will you hear him make an excuse for an off night. He simply puts his nose closer to the grindstone and does what he needs to do, seemingly without the need for fanfare. People respect that.
See you next week in Atlanta.
