For James Lissimore
, a childhood spent growing up in the mountains of Mission, British Columbia, would be forever changed by the discovery of a friend's motocross magazine in elementary school. With no family members involved in the sport, the discovery would lead him down a path very different than anyone could have imagined.
After years of dragging his parents to Motocross and Supercross races all around the North West, James began combining his hobbies of snowboarding, motocross and photography, shooting his friends and burning through film at the local track. With the benefit of a National race only 10 minutes from home, James was able to hone his craft while shooting the countries best as they made their annual pilgrimage to Mission Raceway. Early influences such as the short lived Inside Motocross and snowboard magazines left James with a desire to capture the artistic side of the sport, to go deeper under the surface than the typical “rider on the track” shot.
Once he got his hands on the first copy of Racer X Illustrated, James knew he'd stumbled across something different, something that matched his vision of how a sport should be covered and he dreamed of one day getting his work published in it. A chance meeting with RXC's Jason T. Griffiths and Allison Kennedy lead to an eventual position as the first Senior Photographer at RXC, and multiple features published in Racer X Illustrated. He now looks forward to bringing the same passion for his work as he joins Danny and crew at directmotocross.com.
