CMRC Walton Provincial/ANQ
Some shots of Saturdays age-based races that went on last weekend from the Walton Provincial/ANQ.
Thanks to Bruce Lakie for letting me take a rip in his helicopter and snap a few photos from high above.
#164 Mitchell Goheen holeshot the second 80cc 12-16 race and would hold on to win it. His first moto hindered him from getting the overall and had to settle for 2nd (7-1). Owen Whelen #177 finished second both motos for 1st OA. 3rd OA (4-4) was a rider from Michigan, McKinzie Edwards.
The Cryer brothers duked it out in the first corner in the 50cc Open class. #197 Thomas Cryer would soon take the lead and the OA (1-1). #11 Connor Stevenson broke up the pair to finish 2nd OA (2-2). The final podium rider was #100 Sterling Lofthouse for 3rd OA (3-3). Tyler Cryer would place 5th OA (5-5).
Always a front runner #757 Ken Glimour rode his Honda to a 2nd OA (2-2) in the +45 class. Jim Scott #57 would take 3rd OA (3-3).
#84 Tanner Ward just moved up to the bigger 80cc bikes but it didn't show as he swept the 80cc 7-11 class.
#424 Austin Watling was ripping on his Honda in 80cc 7-11 to take 2nd OA (2-3). 3rd OA was #46 Marco Canella (3-6).
#37 Doug Wright showed up and put it to the other +45 riders that are looking to win the series. He would complete the day with perfect moto scores.
#9 Kate McKerroll proved why she has a single digit ladies plate by leading the way to the checkers both motos. She did fall back a little one moto, but came back strong. The other KTM on the podium was #627 Naydeen Lothian who rode well both motos and finished 2nd OA (2-3).
Style points go to #79 Kassie Boone. She was set to finish in the top three until she had a small get off just after landing from this. She would finish 4th OA (8-2). Looks like her training at the Freeman compound is paying off because she is looking pretty comfortable hitting every jump in sight. #863 Renee Riendeau was 3rd OA (3-4).
#374 Michael Marston scrubbed his way to first in his Schoolboy Qualifier. Results are showing him as 58th OA, not sure how that is possible as he made the main, but I digress.
In 65cc Peewee racing, #46 Marco Canella would pass #198 Nicholas Cryer to end in 1st both motos. Nicholas would run (2-4) good for 3rd OA. #30 Cole Stevens would claim 2nd OA (4-2).
Justin Roney #134 finished 3rd in his Schoolboy qualifier, and not reflecting his abilities, an 18th in the main.
#781 Zager Zager was leading in the first Under 30 qualifier until he fell and went back a couple spots. #751 Austin Dodd came in right behind Zack to qualify 3rd.
#552 Kyle Snelgrove is back to racing this year. He hauls the mail when need be. Good for 2nd OA in Under 30
#116 Evan Clarke accelerates away from the "hole" at the back of the track on his way to a 2nd OA (2-2) in 50cc 7-8. #527 Jake Tricco was again the overall winner (1-1) with #81 Kobi Cox winding up 3rd (3-3).
#22 Hunter Scott holeshot the first 50cc 5-6 moto, but was passed by #11 Connor Stevenson mid moto. Hunter would only lose one spot and would wind up 2nd OA (2-2) for the day. Connor put together two solid motos for 1st and 3rd OA was #52 Luke Tricco (5-3).
#769 Greg Freeman was the winner in Vet Jr. (1-1). 2nd (3-2) went to Arnie Bomberry #296. Finishing off the top three was #211 Rob Baker (5-3).
At least #395 Jason Baird crossed the checkers before putting it over. Not the best thing to do if you don't like to get ribbed by the other riders though! He would end up 7th OA (6-5) in Vet Jr.
#133 Derek Arnold would lead the pack around the mechanics area after the gate dropped in the second Vet Master moto. He wouldn't look back and would complete the day with a perfect (1-1) score. #813 Dusty Wise would fall in just behind him for 2nd OA (2-2). 3rd OA would go to #174 Chad Valenti.
#371 Alex O'Dell tried his hardest to catch and pass #47 Hayden Halstead in the Schoolboy main. Coming down to the last final corners Hayden held onto the lead as he crossed the checkers. Hayden 1st OA, Alex 2nd OA and 3rd OA to #14 RJ Roy.
