Frid’Eh Update #20 | Jeremy McKie | Brought to You by Dirt Care
Week #20 belongs to Jeremy McKie from Quebec and is brought to you by Dirt Care
By Billy Rainford

Welcome to Week #20 of the DMX Frid’Eh Update brought to you by Dirt Care cleaners and lubricants. This week, I’m sitting in my home office without plans of doing a whole lot over this upcoming long weekend. Emily has a big birthday coming up and we’ll be in the Greek Islands when it happens next week. This will be our 3rd non-moto vacation since 2015 and we’re both looking forward to it!

Of course, that means we’ll be away for what is probably the most highly anticipated start to an AMA Pro Motocross Championship season I can remember since James Stewart moved up to the big bike class.
With Haiden Deegan moving up to the 450 class and Jett Lawrence returning from his injury, the eyes of the entire world will be on Fox Raceway in Pala, California, on May 31st. Both riders are very good at this wide-open track, so I’m not sure who has the advantage here. Haiden is new to the class and Jett’s level of readiness is yet to be truly known.

In 2025, Jett Lawrence went 1-1 in the 450 class and Haiden Deegan went 1-1 in the 250 class.
Not to mention a whole host of other riders ready to put their stamp on the class. Can Jorge Prado return to his dominance of the MXGP class on the Austrian bike? Will Eli Tomac be willing and able to run at the front? Will Chase Sexton be in top form on the Kawasaki? Can Justin Cooper take the next step in his career and be a consistent podium guy? Will Ken Roczen and Hunter Lawrence take their Supercross battle to the front of the Motocross field?
We only have to wait 2 more weeks to find out!

Jeremy McKie from Quebec is the rider who owns #20. We thought we lost him from racing our series…heck, any series, a couple times over the last couple years, but I’m happy that he’s decided to give it another shot in 2026.
I was in Tampa, Florida, the morning he crashed during early Press Day and really messed up both his wrists. In true racer fashion, he came back to the track in casts, still wearing his ripped up MX pants.

Unfortunately, the injuries were worse than originally thought and he then had to deal with scary infection that put him back even further in his recovery.
We did this interview as a podcast because I really wanted everyone to hear the conviction in his voice as he comes back from this injury. He’s still got something to prove to the industry and himself and will be competing in the entire Canadian Makita Triple Crown Series in the 250 class this summer.
The only problem with posting the interview as a pod is that it doesn’t give me space to insert a bunch of new and old photo of him! Hmm, I guess I could just toss them in here anyway.

Thanks for the talk, Jeremy. I’m looking forward to seeing him back at the races full time.
Harris Kullas from Estonia is Coming for Podiums

Harri Kullas from Estonia is perhaps the biggest question mark in the 450 class for the 2026 Canadian season. He has almost come to Canada to race our series a couple times but he’ll be here on the Red Bull KTM team as their 450 rider this summer.
He’s got a solid racing resumé and if you look at his 2025 AMA season, you have to think he should be fighting for wins immediately. He’s got 6 top 10 results in the USA since he first came over in 2023.
His best finish last summer was a 10th (12-11) at RedBud, so you know he’s coming here to win for the orange team. And from what I’ve seen whenever I talk to him, he’s also a very nice guy and should fit in very well with our Canadian scene. He should make the 450 podium interesting.
This past week, there have been Provincial races held all across Canada with many of our top Pr riders taking park to ensure they’re ready when the gate drops at Round 1 at Wild Rose MX in downtown Calgary, Alberta, June 7th. Let’s have a look from “right to left”:

This long weekend, many Pro riders should be at Sand Del Lee for Round 3 of the AMO Ontario Provincial Championships. Riders will want to get some race pace testing done and it looks like we should have a pretty strong entry list that may include: Quinn Amyotte, Dylan Rempel, Jess Pettis, Preston Kilroy, Ryder Malinoski, Tanner Scott, Nathan Germain, Noah Viney, and Crayden Dillon. There was a chance we’d also see the first of Harri Kullas, but apparently he just landed in Montreal this afternoon, so he will not be lining up.
I was at Gopher Dunes on Tuesday for their annual Team Introduction. Derek Schuster and the crew always put on a professional event. I had planned to broadcast the interview portion of it live (and I did), but when I listened to it back there was some sort of interference happening between their speakers and my microphone making it very difficult and very irritating to listen to. I took it down from Youtube. It wouldn’t be early season if I weren’t apologizing for something! Sorry, everyone.
Here’s a link to the Photo Gallery from the day:
Here are some of the interviews we posted from the day:
Riviere Du Loup Arenacross
The 44th running of the Riviere du Loup Arenacross is next weekend, May 23rd in RDL, Quebec. Always a favourite for both fans and riders, it’s about as much fun as you can have at a dirt bike event in Canada. If you’ve never been, you should try to be there. Here’s a look at the 3-round SXQC schedule:

Round 7 of the GNCC Racing heads north to Ohio this weekend at Powerline Park in St Clairsville, OH.
Here’s how they describe this one:
Located near Wheeling, W. Va., Powerline Park is on old strip mine property. Mud is always a factor here, as the course runs across fire roads that pack up and hold water. The topsoil is clay, but it gives way to a rocky base soil, and there are some rock piles around too. The mud isn’t as slippery to your tires or as sticky on your machine as it is in Southern Ohio (like the John Penton), which is a welcome relief.
Next Friday, I will be in the Greek Islands, so I’m not sure what I can promise for Week #21. It will be Gavin Brough‘s week for the interview, so I’d better preload this one before I go. Enjoy your long weekend, everyone. The weather is supposed to finally get hot in my area with temperatures reaching 29C/85F on Monday. That’s more like it!
