It’s time again to have a look at the people under the helmets and in the crowd for another edition of ‘ ‘Faces at the Races‘ from Round 2 of the 2026 Canadian Triple Crown Series Motocross Nationals at Prairie Hill MX in Pilot Mound, Manitoba. Let’s have some fun!
It’s Round 2, Andy Kerr. Let’s go!Show me a nicer kid than #24 Adrien Desmarais. You can’t. He didn’t win on Saturday, and may not have been in the top 5, but I really like what I see from him on the track. I’ll keep an eye on the #737.Soon enough, #312 Kade Dupuis. Soon enough.Jayden Riley and Katrine Ferguson. See if you remember this a little further down the page… Katrine raced with that arm and finished 5-5 for 5th.I like what I see from young #99 Evan Thalman, too. Actually, you wouldn’t be far off with either of these guys in the niceness ranking.Hmm, I could have sworn you hired another guy who should have been doing things like this, but I just can’t remember who it was… Ask Brett Lee about it in Quebec.Hey, at least there are only 3 Fergusons out there this sumemr!Yep, those shoes are supposed to look just like what you think they look like…David “D Spec” Gingras has become one of the most sought after guys in the pits. This had trouble written all over it.I’ll take it!Tanner Scott won our Ryno Power Canada ‘Privateer Performance of the Week’ in the 250 class in Calgary. I want to try and stay on top of giving out the actual prizes this year. As Meatloaf would say, “1 out of 6 ain’t bad!” OK, this one hits me in the feels. I saw Dylan Wright and his mom, Natalie Wright, walking the track on Saturday. I’d never seen that before so I mentioned it to them. It turned out, Natalie was missing a ‘Walk for ALS’ back home, so Dylan asked her to go for a walk around the track with him in lieu of that. I usually start with some shots from the Sunday morning riders meeting. Here’s SSR Kawasaki’s Steve Simms trying to familiarize himself with the new timing software. And I think he’s at risk of getting roughed up by one of the “Children of the corn!”#132 Seth Hughes chilling. He’s racing the Nationals and heading to Loretta Lynn’s in August.OK, so I watched Kaylie Kayer ride on Monday at the FXR Ride Day and she was absolutely ripping!#247 Tegan Kortenbach got to roll his bike into the Red Bull KTM pits this week. He finished 9-9 for 8th and you could tell he still expects a lot more from himself. Watch for #58 Blake Davies to start moving himself further up inside the top 10 as we head east. #126 Ayrton Pomeroy wondering who he could run over today. I think he’s looking over at #24 Dylan Rempel! Kidding, of course. 26-17 put “A-Tron” in 21st in the 250 class.I described #14 Quinn Amyotte’s riding in Manitoba as “frisky” and I stand by that. Cool wHHHips.Watch for the #84 Tanner Ward/#12 Sebastien Racine battles to tighten up as we head east. Tanner was 4th (5-4).Keep an eye on the #25 of Cole Pranger out there. His Pro breakout ride is coming. It’s his week for the Frid’Eh Update Interview. I’ll ask him about it. He finished 7-8 for 7th and was in the mix. There’s a chance we’ve seen the last of #177 Kade Johnson in Canada. It all depends on how they feel after racing High Point this Saturday. Come race the eastern rounds, Kade. You’ll love it!Still trying…This wily veteran isn’t worried about these young kids firing off at him. He knows the game and holds the red plate heading into round 3. #555 Zach Phifer is trending in the right direction lately…UP! He looked vastly improved this past weekend and will be cracking the top 10 pretty soon as an Intermediate. He’s the top yellow-plater out there. Tanner wasn’t thrilled with his performance in Manitoba, but he’s still in this fight. Hmm, why is Dario Zecca at the riders meeting? Ohhhhh. Yep, he came out from behind the teacher’s desk and raced the 450 class. He decided not to come back out for moto 2, however. I have to be quick to catch Sylvain Brodeur before he sticks his tongue out at me. Got him!It was cold in the morning and I looked everywhere in the KTM pits for another toque like the one Harri is wearing. Love is in the air all over the pits lately! #41 Jordan Riley cracked the top 10 with 8-11 motos for 10th.#227 Vincent Wey finished 2-2 for 2nd and sits 4th in points heading into the little break. Someone said Sideshow Mel, but I’d like to see how #911 Jordan Biese looks in a top hat. It was great to have him and his brother, #343 Carter Biese, in Canada. When I took this photo at the riders meeting I didn’t even realize…They were with Steve Simms…There he is.I think that’s Ryan Lockhart counting Stage 1 points. They called in track builder heavy hitter Brandon Dean to help Kyle McCannell and his crew.My dad always told me to keep my head down in a crowd. Christian Plasse got the same advice from Stephane, apparently. Kyle Thompson is always ready to play a game of “Can You Slow-mo That?”Hey, eastern Junior riders, #165 Braxton Becker is heading your way. Be ready.Jim Scott was telling some great stories in Manitoba. #16 Tanner Scott is a little beaten up after Calgary and finished 13th (10-15).#277 Seth Unrau was tossing some of the biggest whips all day. He finished 25th in the 250 class. #343 Carter Biese (Bees) finished 12th (13-12) on his first trip to Canada from Wisconsin.I offered #51 Josh Clark the extra bed in my gunshot hotel room. Good thing they did their own thing because I ended up only having one bed! Josh is going full privateer this summer with his wife. I wondered where #150 Dexter Seitz was and just found out today that he really broke his arm and had to get some surgery. Man, this guy deserves a…nope, not gonna say it!Ryder channelling his inner Chase Sexton.Preston giving #15 Jess Pettis a little insider info after his 250 moto. Dylan pulled out his right ear bud to see if he could catch anything. #377 Daniel Elmore finished 5th (6-5) and has his little bro, Orrin Elmore, with him.I have an old shot of Kornel “The Bohemeth” Nemeth and it looks a lot like this one of Blake. Big dudes. Here’s the answer to everyone’s question. Yep, it fits.Nico doing his best Maytag Repair Man bit. I like what I’m seeing from #19 Noah Porter so far this season. A couple loose ends and he’ll stay up in that top 5. 8-7 put him 7th.I’m afraid Cale Foster will be looking for something more to do moving forward after Jess did damage to his right knee. Peter leading the red pant brigade on the Priority MX team. Just wear them, Justin Roney! 🤣Team Gatt. #85 Alex Gatt finished 18th in the 450 class.“If you’re gonna comment on my shirt, I want you off the property!”It’s all up to you now, Harri. You looked up to the task in moto 2. It’s not gonna be easy! Our video guy, Austin Klassen, ready for action.Kyle trying to stay ahead of the dust. These unique trophies will be displayed with pride, I’m sure. I have to admit, I thought #301 Jordan Jarvis was going to run roughshod over the field this summer, but Jamie Astudillo has been very impressive. Thanks for the gear at the FXR Ride Day, Andy White. Good thing the rain was threatening or I would have shown everyone a thing or two out there! And that’s FXR head honcho Milt Reimer. 60 is the new 30!I always like to keep an eye out for interesting helmet graphics. That’s #63 Mars Millar. He was 20th in the 250 class.I told you love is in the air.See above. It’s pretty cool to have #27 Nick Wey at the races this summer. I interviewed him with my new GoPro and it messed up. I felt like the terrorist cameraman in True Lies. (Google it, Bowker!)I haven’t watched a reply of a race yet, but Ciel Ferguson seems to be doing a great job with the interviews. The Racines stopping in at the Team Canada MXON tent with Kourtney Lloyd. I always park right beside her, so if you need either of us…Ryan accepted the Stage 1 trophy on behalf of the Honda Canada GDR Fox team.I remember sleeping in the basement at Kyle’s house once. I asked him if he still lives there and he said they moved over 10 years ago!Imagine the fence isn’t there and move from left to right like stop-motion animation. “See you at the races...”Go follow FXR Moto on Instagram
