Grab yourself another cup for this week’s Monday Morning Coffee opinion column about some of what happened in Motocross this weekend

We’re setting up the pits for Round 7.5 this morning at the first Tim Hortons you hit when you get to Ontario….

Well, I guess we just have one more round to go. but if the racing at MX Deschambault was any indication, we’re in for one more barn-burner!

That 2nd 450 moto was one to remember. #151 Harri Kullas held off the charge of #9 Dylan Wright almost every lap of that 30 +2 race. Track Announcer Mathieu Gervais did a great job again keeping both French and English-speaking fans up on everything that was going on, as he seamlessly went between the two languages in equal measure.

There were a bunch of stories to talk about, so let me hit a few of them here in easy-to-read point form:

The Premix class made its return on Sunday. Obviously, it’s a great way to get more entry fees, but the fans also seemed to enjoy it. It was another chance to watch #213 Hayden Dupuis rip his 125 2-stroke at the front of the pack. Before long, he’ll join the rest on the 4-strokes, so enjoy this every chance you get.

WMX points leader, #301 Jordan Jarvis had a very rare mechanical that kept her at the gate after it dropped for moto 2 and then sent her pushing to the pits in the first corner. It has tightened up the points heading to Walton Raceway. But get this, we got robbed because if she had a big enough lead in the points she was going to line up in the 250 Pro Am class.
#1 Jamie Astudillo is now just 6 points back with 2 motos left to run.
Oh, Jordan will also do double duty when she races Unadilla on Saturday before Walton.

With #31 Ryder Malinoski going 1-1 he is now just 3 points behind #24 Dylan Rempel for the 250 championship!

The 2nd 450 moto was one of the best races anyone can remember. I didn’t this Harri Kullas would be able to go the speed of Dylan Wright on our tracks, but the consummate professional is showing that his experience combined with his speed are difficult to beat.
#785 Alex Fedortsov qualified 2nd behind #2 Preston Kilroy in the 450 class. He grabbed the lead and was looking good but then seemed to fade. Well, it turns out he had a cracked rear shock forcing him to slow down. They didn’t have another so he wasn’t able to line up for moto 2.
#131 Adrien Malaval from France won the Pro Am class at the ECAN and then had another solid Pro day, finishing 4th…again. The guys at MX Deschambault would love to have him race the whole series, so they’ll hopefully be able to put something together for 2027.
#527 Jake Tricco got the opportunity to race for the Kawasaki SSR team after #12 Sebastien Racine broke his collarbone during practice on Tuesday. With literally no time on the bike he did what he could and it was just a great story to go along with.
#1 Phil Nicoletti came back to Canada to race this one-off round to run the #1 plates on his Husqvarna. A few of us placed bets on where he’d finish and I think Kyle Thompson was the big winner?
#5 Tyler Medaglia came back to earn the 10 points needed to hold his career number.He finished right behind Nicoletti in 7th.
#377 Daniel Elmore is racing with 2 broken bones in his wrist/hand.
Quebec supports Motocross like no other province in Canada.
