ThermoTec Yamaha Races into Council Bluffs

Moline, IL. – March 10, 2015

ThermoTec Yamaha FMC Racing went into the eighth stop of the Amsoil Arenacross Series with several things to accomplish.

One was to keep their premier rider Bobby Kiniry in the mix for the “Race for the Championship” and two was to introduce their newest team rider Josh Cartwright to the Arenacross regulars.

Kiniry, who came into Council Bluffs in fourth in the Arenacross points chase, had a rough night on Friday with a 13th overall via 10-15 main event finishes. Kiniry then came back on Saturday to get back in the mix with a 6th overall via 6-7 main event finishes.

Although he lost a few points over the weekend and fell back to fifth, Kiniry still sits pretty for the Race for the Championship as the top 10 riders get to battle for the title after the points reset in two weeks.

After losing their first two riders to injury earlier this season, ThermoTec Yamaha FMC Racing picked up new recruit Josh Cartwright during the week and the 19-year-old showed the Arenacross regulars that he will be a force for the rest of the season as he came away with two podiums in the Arenacross Lites class over the weekend with two second place finishes.

Cartwright also qualified for the Arenacross class on Friday and finished a respectable 10th overall and looked to be in a great qualifying position on Saturday when an untimely crash in the whoops while running third took him out of qualifying position. He decided to not race the LCQ and instead stayed fresh for the Lites final and it paid off with a strong second place ride once again.

Cartwright will ride the Lites class only for the next few weeks and then, once fully adapted, will return to the premier class as well.

The team heads to the ninth stop on the tour in South Haven, Mississippi, just south of Memphis, this weekend, in search of more great finishes.
