Let’s have some fun with this week’s edition of ‘Faces at the Races’ from Round 4 of the 2026 Canadian Triple Crown Series Motocross Nationals at Gopher Dunes. It’s our look at the riders under their helmets and the people at the event.
#445 Campbell Searle taking in a Paul Kingsley riders meeting. He had a tough day in the sand but I don’t know the details. Missed you by THAT MUCH, Sylvain Brodeur, but I’m still using it!Jeremy McKie had his little brother, Jacob McKie, with him this week. Jacob is a full-time working guy now. Kourtney Lloyd missed Ste Julie but was back at Gopher Dunes drumming up support for this year’s Team Canada MXON in France. Look for her this week in Moncton.Look for this tent too. Always a good group of vendors at this event. The home team brought out the gold rims to complete the look.I already made a comment about my dislike of red with blue, but Ryder Malinoski made it work. 😉California rider #330 Dane Morales made an appearance. He was a solid 12th in moto 1 but moto 2 had other plans for him. 17th overall. Emerson Judge and Mike Judge are both Loretta Lynn’s bound. #7 Brandy McLarty was about to have a very good day.Our series is full of interesting stories and characters. #100 Cale Kuchnicki is definitely one of them. Stop by and say hello to the programmer from Michigan this week in Moncton.Kade Johnson went full Jordan Jarvis this week. He raced on Friday and Saturday at the SMX Next Moto Combine at Red Bud then showed up and took a hard-earned 3rd.Christian Plasse is always ready with a thumbs up, but Amelie Croteau was quite ill and wasn’t feeling it. Blake Davies and Payton Morningstar are in our starting line-up if we ever challenge anyone on the basketball court. Even a tough, and expensive, day couldn’t wipe the smile off #911 Jordan Biese’s face. More on that later… Plus, someone give him a guitar and a top hat for just one photo, please.Tegan Kortenbach trying to hold in a yawn. He also raced at Red Bud and then came back to Gopher Dunes. Zack Zager blew up a 2-stroke and then hit the track on a yellow 4-stroke. #41 Jayden Riley’s time is coming…Jordan Jarvis’ time is right now!#19 Noah Porter definitely turned a few heads at Gopher Dunes. He ran 2nd for a while and ended up 8th in the 450 class. #12 Sebastien Racine is trying to etch his name in behind Dylan Wright and Harri Kullas. Preston Kilroy seems to be his challenge. I didn’t realize Tim Lee hadn’t reffed a Triple Crown race in like 6 years!Yes, I know how old that makes us now, Jim Scott. 2 winners, 1 shot.Crayden Dillon wasn’t supposed to be back until River Glade. He looked great and finished up in 4th in moto 1. Unfortunately, he was likely going to repeat that finish in moto 2 when he suffered a mechanical DNF. Here he is on the line making sure his shoulder is working properly. 15-year-old Tinley McCoy also turned a bunch of heads this week. The rider from Tennessee rode her 125 to 4th place.Chris Dasilva is the man behind the DRT apparel line. Tristan Dares got this reaction a lot when he told people he was going to try racing both classes at Gopher Dunes. #959 Axel Neff came up from Pennsylvania and finished 26th (24-24).#32 Liam Dodds is back to racing but he’s got some wrap on his ankle and as you can see it’s not ideal yet.Donk’s rider, Vincent Wey, is out with injury, so I’m going to go old school here: Donk is looking for a Maytag washer to fix…Harri Kullas has raced all over the world and actually called the track easy after the 2nd moto! He should try riding it at MY speed and see how much that changes things!Dylan Wright practicing keeping his hand off the throttle, as he was about to have to nurse his bike to the finish line in moto 1. Moto 2? Well…Riders got creative with their lines and it was his job to try to stifle creativity.I didn’t realize #866 was Drew Roberts until…well, pretty recently. He finished 13-17 for 17th.#33 Joe Tait almost landed up on the podium. He was 4th and went…up on the podium… They pulled the top 5 up for a chat this week. Not everyone gave me something but #85 Alex Gatt did and we appreciate it. He finished 21-20 for 22nd.#377 Daniel Elmore has a pretty sore wrist and almost didn’t race this week. He went for it and scored solid points with 8-6 motos for 7th.Amelie Croteau had full-time female mechanic Cassandra Zimmerman working for her this week. She’s usually asphalt only but Chris Egan said he wants her at more of our races. These kids are all for it!We haven’t seen Bill Wright in a while so it was great to see him this week.If you’re old like me, Steve Luyks (left) and Al Strickert need no introduction. Steve is the guy you’ll see if you go ride at Gore Road and Al, well, Al will come to see you, so you don’t have to worry about it. Tegan would end up finishing 9-9 for 8th, and he had to work for every inch of it.Crayden was keeping it pretty loose on his return to racing, but when the gate drops he’s all business.Alan Brown catches me catching him.I’m gonna go ahead and say it: I love that we don’t have the Premix class anymore because it gives us a chance to hit the pits and see what’s going on. Easily one of the busiest moto dads out there. This right here is probably the longest Ulf Viney has stood still this year.2-2 2nd overall for Brandy McLarty.Happy 250th.19-14 18th for Danik Paradis.TJ Lanphear took the blame for #177 Kade Johnson’s poor starts this week. If he races our series again, he needs to wear a “Who the ‘heck’ is Carson Fields?” shirt. He was flying out there and I didn’t know him. He qualified 3rd and led laps! He had some struggles and ended up 14-6 for 10th. I hope we do see more of this Michigan rider who leased out Julien Benek’s number.Kyle Murdoch had troubles in the first moto but then rode how we expected him to in moto 2 for 4th. It put him 10-4 5th overall.Nathan Germain was in the mix for 8th in moto 1. I thought I saw him up there again in moto 2 but then something happened and he was back in 16th for 12th overall. Watch for a rebound this week.#16 Tanner Scott is about ready to grab a holeshot and run up front. He was 6-8 for 6th this week and has a podium threat in him.Sponsor break.Ayrton Pomeroy was on the ground floor for the birth of our Amateur Day Dirt Care “Stud Status” award to the 250 Junior winner a few years ago. He finished 27th (26-25).#212 Niko Holmes getting some encouragement before going 22-21 for 23rd.New profile shot for #63 Mars Millar. 19th (18-19).Jim Frederickson is heading to Loretta’s and should do well because you know he’s got a couple holeshots in him!#761 Cass Loutitt had a big crash over the finish line jump. He rode off with the medics and I hope he’s feeling better today. When Junior rider #21 Adrien Desmarais makes the move to the 4-stroke and sees that it’s pretty much cheating, look out!Cole Pranger qualified well but just didn’t have a normal day. 15-13 had him back in 14th.Rider introductions before the first moto. That’s #880 Johnson Boyd from Nova Scotia. 28-17 put him just outside the top 20 in 21st.#93 Kaes Knights (one of the coolest names going) finished 32nd overall.Frank Schuster with his traditional walk down the line shaking every racer’s hand before moto 1.They played both the Canadian and the American anthems.Pre-race nerves for Danik. We also had a pretty cool little fly-over.And this young dude was rocking out on the stage.Yes, at your speed it might seem easy, Harri.Off to Loretta’s for Tinley (parents big late 80’s triathlon fans?) and then we’re told we’ll see her at the TransCan. Excellent. Not a fan of the sand, watch for Jamie Astudillo to be fighting for wins next week. Fan club for local rider Dylan Rempel.I did my traditional slow nod with Ron Cameron to start the day.Kade Johnson’s mom made the trip north for this one. If you thought I was going to walk up and ask him what happened, you’d be wrong. I gave him some time.Jordan Biese was having a great 2nd moto when his bike let go on him. There will be no time for Ryan Gauld to stand around when we get to the ECAN at MX Deschambault. Would you believe this is the 2nd 50/50 win for Mitchell Fleming?!Go ahead, Cory Trevor. It was great to see Peter and Ryan Derry back at the races, but you can’t stand there, Peter! That’s our ‘Out of the Blue’ by Schrader’s contributor, Jensen Amyotte.I told you we’d be back and I told you she wasn’t feeling it. “See you at the races…”
Thanks for looking and we’ll see you at River Glade out in Moncton, New Brunswick this week.
