Frid’Eh Update #32 | Liam Dodds Interview | Brought to You by Dirt Care
By Billy Rainford

Welcome to Week #32 of the DMX Frid’Eh Update brought to you by Dirt Care. This edition falls on a tricky time, since I’m down at Loretta Lynn’s covering our amateur Canadians here at The Ranch. The schedule doesn’t leave a whole lot of wiggle room to do normal, day-to-day columns, like the Frid’Eh Update. Having said that, this “Update” will consist of our interview with Week #32’s honouree.
Liam Dodds is the rider on the rise from Revelstoke, BC. He came into the season injured and had to watch as points slipped away and others got gate drops. When he did make it back into the action, he was still in a lot of pain and could barely get his boot on his foot. He’s really coming on strong to close out the season.
Let’s get right to our interview, shall we?

Direct Motocross: Hey, Liam. This is our first Frid’Eh Update Interview, so I guess we’re going to have learn a few things about you. Can you tell us where you’re from and how you got into Motocross in the first place?
Liam Dodds: I’m from Revelstoke, BC and how I got into dirt biking was when I was two years old my dad got me on a CRF 50 with some training wheels and then it just snowballed from there. My first race was when I was 7 years old in Pemberton, BC and from there I couldn’t stop racing!
Was Moto all you ever did or are/were you involved in any other sports or activities? You’re from Revelstoke, BC, so you better tell me you ski, snowboard, or mountain bike!
I haven’t just done Moto, I have been involved in other sports as well such as mountain biking, skiing, snow biking, but my favourite is definitely racing my dirt bike.
You said all the magic words. Lol You’re pretty young, so I’m curious who your moto hero was when you were younger?
My Moto hero when I was younger has probably been Ken Roczen because he never gives up and keeps pushing and working harder then anyone else and that’s what motivates me to work as hard as I can on and off the bike.

You got a cool opportunity to race for the Dusty Rocks team this season but came into it with an injury. Can you tell everyone what happened and what the rehab was/is like?
Riding for the Dusty Rocks team has been a huge opportunity that I can’t thank Travis (Deglow) enough for. Coming into the season I was feeling really good, but unfortunately, I broke my navicular bone in my foot four weeks before the first round and that was definitely upsetting. While I was recovering, I was trying to stay as active as I can spin biking and going to the gym every day, just trying to stay as active as I can and keep the blood flowing.
Is this something you still think about when you ride or are you racing at 100% now?
For the first couple rounds, I was definitely still feeling my foot and the pain and also being worried of re-injuring it, but since round five I finally feel like I am back to where I should be which feels awesome!
You’ve been staying on the road this summer. We just finished a bit of a break, what have you been up to?
The two week break we have had I have just been riding as much as I can and doing lots of off bike training as well to come out swinging at Walton.

Will you be racing during the week at the TransCan at Walton Raceway?
The plan is to be racing during the week at Walton. It should be pretty fun with the new layout and I am excited to get onto the track!
You’ve really been putting in some good results lately. How would you sum up your season up to now, considering how you came into it?
I am very happy with my results lately and finally feeling like I’m showing my true potential of where I should be at, considering not having the best start of the season and I hope to keep it rolling into Walton!
Hey, let’s get your numbers. Give us your age, height, and weight.
I just turned 19 years old, I’m 6 feet tall, and I weigh about 155 pounds.

What’s the second best sport?
My second favourite sport has to be either mountain biking or snow biking.
Is Supercross a goal of yours or will you stay north of the border?
Doing Supercross is definitely a big goal of mine. I really enjoyed the tight stadium racing, and I hope to eventually race some Supercross in the upcoming future.
OK, good luck at Walton next week. Who would you like to thank?
I’d like to think the whole Dusty Rocks team and Travis for giving me this opportunity and all our amazing sponsors that help support us!
Yamahamotorcanada, s5powersportsinc, devco.ride.dynamics, seco_seatcover, firstline.graphics, sun_snowentltd, gibsontyrecanada, matrixconceptscanada, foxracing, asvinventions, sosaoriginal, hallracefuel, ride100percent, mobiusbraces, renthal_moto, worksconnection, and gibsonperformanceltd

One thing I’ll mention before turning off the light and getting some sleep before the final day of racing here in Tennessee is Round 1 of the 2026 WSX in Calgary, Alberta.
It’s really too bad the way the schedule worked out for this event here. Most of us are either concentrating on Loretta’s or getting ready to head to Walton Raceway for the TransCan. I’m pretty disappointed that I won’t be there for the action, and that not even John Meany will be in town. It would have been great to get some photos from him.
Enjoy the show and good luck to Cole Thompson out there!
