Frid’Eh Update #41 | Matti Jorgensen | Brought to You by Dirt Care
By Billy Rainford

Welcome to Week #41 of the DMX Frid’Eh Update brought to you by Dirt Care Cleaners and Lubricants. Let me get a couple things off my chest before we dive in. I went to the dog park to run Olive around for a few minutes this morning. We always attach her leash to the fence at the entrance and then go in. Today, I noticed there were two bigger role-style leashes already attached to the fence, so I put hers next to them. No biggie.
Olive had a great time running around with the other dogs and then we headed for the far gate which is the one we always use simply because there’s way less action there. And wouldn’t you know it, all the leashes were gone.
I’ve been racking my brain trying to think of who had 2 bigger dogs in there today because I will definitely confront them based on this circumstantial evidence. It’s not the money involved but the principle of theft. It drives me crazy to think someone would juts steal something like that. I’ve been burning up about it all day!
And then I get a message on my phone that my oldest external hard drive that I dropped and had to send in to get the data off it was back and ready to be picked up. Sweet! I called and waited on hold just now for about 5 minutes.
When they finally picked up I asked them how much I owed them. Zero. Uh oh…
Correct. They were unable to get any of the data off this priceless drive. Fortunately, these days I wear suspenders and a belt and have all the info on my externals also uploaded to my SmugMug account online. You have no idea how pissed off I am about this.
You’ll notice external hard drives are shaped flat now so they take up less space and can’t very easily be knocked over and off your desk.
This drive held photos from back when I lived in BC up to 2006! And also….wait a tick, I think I actually have some old CD Roms with photos and videos on them! Oh ya, new Macs don’t have CD drives anymore. Guess I’ll need to get and external one to attach to the dongle that is needed for every damn thing these days. Ugh…
Anyway, with that small sliver of light at the end of this technological tunnel I think I can recover quite a few old photos that I thought were lost forever.
Matti Jorgensen from Denmark is the rider who earned the #41 for the 2025 Canadian Triple Crown Series season. Unfortunately, we never saw him north of the border this past summer. I did see him down south on a couple occasions and he’s always quick to say hello.
We got in touch with this globetrotting motocross racer to get to know him a little more and find out what his future looks like. He only raced Riverglade, Deschambault, and Walton in 2024, but it was enough to earn him the 2-digit number for 2025.
Here’s a look at his results:

Direct Motocross: Hello, Matti. I’ve seen you all over the place the last few years, but let’s back it way up to let people get to know you a little better. Can you tell us where you’re from, how old you are, and how you got started racing Motocross in the first place?
Matti Jorgensen: Yes. I’m from Denmark. I just turned 20 years old 2 weeks ago and I got a PW 50 when I was around 3.
How big is the sport in Denmark? Did you do any other sports when you were young besides MX?
It’s pretty big but it’s a small country, but we have some good guys and some fun racing. And no, I never did any other sports.

Was the dream to come and race the AMA series or was the MXGP the big goal?
The dream has always been to race in the US and race supercross and I moved to the us back in 2015 so I have been here for a while.
Have done any MXGP races. I thought maybe you did.
I never raced any MXGP races. I did some EMX 65 and 85 stuff as a kid but maybe you got me mixed up with a different Jorgensen. Haha
When did you first come to North America and can you take us through your path that saw you come to Canada wearing Callus gear at the end of the 2024 summer season?
And yea, I came to Canada for the first time in 2024. My buddies Brennan Schofield and Tj Martin called me and asked if I wanted to race Riverglade on Tj’s Honda 450 and I thought it would be fun to try something new and had a pretty decent weekend there first time riding a Honda and a 450, since I was in B classes as an amateur.

You raced Riverglade, Deschambault, and Walton that summer. Your best was a 5th at Riverglade. How did the racing go and how did you like the experience in Canada?
Riverglade was definitely the best one. The other rounds I didn’t like myself and struggled a bit. I flew back to Florida and rode my GasGas 250 and was a little hard swapping back and fourth. I didn’t do great at Deschambault and then I ended up having the engine break at Walton. But overall fun times racing up there.
You did the full Pro Motocross season this past summer on a Husqvarna 450 with your best finish (19th) coming at the final round at Budds Creek. Were you happy with your season?
Yea, my season this summer was okay, nothing great, but I felt like I made progress throughout the summer and had the MRPSBR team helping me out and big thanks to them for everything.

What’s the best and worst track on the circuit?
Favorite track on the US circuit is RedBud and least favorite is Unadilla.
What do you do in the off-season?
I ended up getting hurt in Germany doing same racing there in the off season, so just recovering.
What are your winter plans?
I hope to get a bike for Supercross here soon and start training for the next year.
What are your plans for next season?
I’d like to race the full SMX series but I don’t have anything lined up yet.
By the way, where are you right now and what are you doing?
I’m in Tennessee racing the Cody Gragg Memorial 2-stroke race at Muddy Creek this weekend.
OK, thank you for taking some time with us for Week #41. Good luck with everything and I hope to see you somewhere soon.
Thank you.

Take it away, Justin Thompson:
In another video, they announce that Canadians Cole Thompson and Preston Masciangelo are racing the series. That’s when things got funny. Preston’s mom, Stacey Masciangelo, commented that it was the first any of them had heard about it!
I sent Preston a message and he said he won’t be in Huntington but he said “potentially a round or 2.”
It will be great to see Cole back in the tight arenas for some Arenacross. He’s super-smooth as we all know and it in AX where he’s forced to get a little loose. He’s done it lots up here in Canada and in their old AX series in the southeast, so he’ll be fast, no doubt.

2025 MXON Videos
I’m still sifting through a ton of content from last weekend at Ironman MX for the 2025 MXON. There is so much stuff that I’m having a hard time knowing where to start! I have already uploaded a couple videos.
You can actually check out the photo gallery from over at our Smug Mug account HERE. Keep an eye out for more to come…

Have a great weekend, everyone. It’s already Canadian Thanksgiving long weekend. We’ve had a pretty crazy run of amazing weather in southwestern Ontario and it’s going to continue over the weekend. It’s the final event of the AMO schedule at Gopher Dunes, so that’s where you’ll find me on Sunday.
