Since I had so much fun with the Christmas Edition, I wanted to bring you the New Year’s version of 5 Lap Sprint. I assembled another fantastic group of Moto Peeps for this one. First, we have lady racer Sierra Roth. Following Sierra, we have Podium 1 Suspensions top sandwich maker and former factory wrench Adam Turner. Lining up 3rd, we have former National Championship wrench and a guy with some of the ugliest shirts I have ever seen, the one and only Todd Kuli. Coming in 4th we have MX1 National Overall winning wrench Josh Cox. And batting 5th we have former Women’s National Champion and Women’s West Organizer Denaye Arnett.

What was your biggest accomplishment in 2014?

Sierra Roth:
I am torn between getting back on a dirt bike or getting early acceptance letters into some of the top Universities in Canada. I think my mom would question my priorities if I didn’t mention University (Laughs).

Adam Turner:
My wife and I welcoming our first-born child/son Tate Turner into the world in early October.

Todd Kuli:
While 2014 wasn’t a milestone year for me in the motocross world it was rewarding in my personal life. I managed to make it to my first wedding anniversary without my wife Rachel causing me any major harm or straight-up killing me! We have been renovating our house, which absorbs major amounts of time and money. The plan is for the first Kuli child to land in early 2016, so we need to have headquarters in shape. I figure if a guy like Adam Turner can take care of a kid it shouldn’t be that difficult! Actually, my dirt bike got used more in 2014 than it has in years previous… funny how when you stop working for a race team all summer you actually have time to ride your own bike! Being able to ride myself is worth giving up all the fame, fortune and Monster girls that are showered upon us mechanic-types!

Josh Cox:
Biggest accomplishment would have to be Ulverton, QC where Kyle Chisholm and I won the overall. It was just one of those days where everything clicked and was just fun and was my first overall win as a mechanic.

Denaye Arnett:
After being together for 7 years, Brendon and I finally got married! …and finally being able to run again after tearing my achilles tendon apart in 2012.

What was your biggest disappointment for 2014?

Sierra Roth:
I’d say not getting back on my dirt bike sooner. I got two weekends of riding this fall and then had to put it away for the winter. After a year and a bit of not riding, I’d call that torture. I’ve never had to sit out that long since I was 9!

Adam Turner:
I wouldn’t say it was a “disappointment” but it sure was different to not go on the road every weekend with the team for the national series.

Todd Kuli:

There wasn’t any earth-shattering disappointments in 2014…I would have liked to get to more than one Canadian National but life gets busy and other things seem to have taken priority…holy shit, did I just say something a grown-up would say?

Josh Cox:
Biggest disappointment has to be either the RCH Supercross where Kyle was leading and crashed and was taken to the hospital or not being at Anaheim 1!

Denaye Arnett:
Not being able to ride my bike as much as I wanted to 🙁 We only got out 4 times this summer.

What are your biggest goals and plans for 2015?

Sierra Roth:
I am headed off to California again in March to be with family and friends as they train for the upcoming national season. Unfortunately, due to insurance, I won’t be riding down in Cali but I hope to get plenty of that during the summer at my track. I am lucky enough to also help out with the women’s series again with Denaye and Camille – always an honour. Then, after my brother, Zach, is done for the summer with racing, I’ll be getting ready to start my first year of university in kinesiology.

Adam Turner:
Raising a decent little human and work away in the shop to always be a better business/product for my customers.

Todd Kuli:
Definitely more riding is in order! I need to get back to where I am on the bike a few times a week. Since there is a motocross track five minutes from my house I really have no excuse not to ride. As middle age has swallowed me up like a Sharknado, I really need to get my old ass in better shape. While I don’t need to be ‘Ironman’ ready, I could lose ten pounds of spare tire I seem to be hiding under my shirt. My blazing speed has suffered a bit and I certainly wouldn’t want McConkey thinking he would beat me in a race!

Josh Cox:
To work with a title contender and win some motos! I would like to be back working the entire series for 2015.

Denaye Arnett:
Coming out of retirement to race the Women’s National Series…………… Just kidding !!!

Camille and I will be behind the scenes again this year to put together a great series for the Women in Canada.  Hopefully, build on what we already have to make the 2015 season bigger and better than last year! Big thanks to Kristi Moore, Mitch Ogb, and Sierra Roth for helping us out too!

What is your New Year’s Resolution?

Sierra Roth:
I want to get as healthy as I can be and enjoy every moment I have with family and friends. This year has been a struggle with my health so that is main priority.

Adam Turner:
I’m promising myself that I’ll ride my mtb more often and try this road bike deal.

Todd Kuli:
Eat better, get in shape, ride more, use my boat more, actually race a few MX and off-road races and get a new job!

Josh Cox:
(Laughs) Well, getting back into racing and trying to do more than 2 lap motos would be nice!

Denaye Arnett:
I don’t really like to set New Year’s Resolutions. I feel like if your going to make a change or set goals it can happen at any time of the year, so I always try to set small goals every couple months that eventually build into bigger accomplishments.  I would just say that I want to stay healthy and in good shape for 2015.

How do you plan on spending your 2014 New Year’s Eve?

Sierra Roth:
I will be celebrating New Year’s in California as I’m here as we speak!

Adam Turner:
Nice night here at the house with my wife, son, parents and in-laws. Babysitters are hard to find on a party night (laughs).

Todd Kuli:
We are heading to a house party with some friends. It’s typically a night of none-stop eating and a few drinks. I always make my signature dish. It’s called ‘The Triple Crown’ and it’s truly a religious eating experience! It consists of a pork loin wrapped in chicken breasts which is all wrapped in a few pounds of bacon! Sort of like a heart attack on a plate, to be honest.

Josh Cox:
I plan on spending New Year’s up in the cold in Cochrane, Ontario, snowmobiling!

Denaye Arnett:
Having a nice quiet night inside out of the cold with Brendon and our dog Zeus. Maybe go out to the lake for a sled ride; nothing too crazy. Can you tell I’m getting old?

Bonus question: What are your A1 predictions?

Sierra Roth:
There has been so much that has changed that I’ll decide after I watch the qualifiers live that day. (Laughs)

Adam Turner:
I predict that 2015 SX and MX will be the most unpredictable season ever. But if I had to spit out names for A1, I’d have to say 450-Roczen and 250-Hanny (I’m a sucker for style and black sheep. (Laughs)

Todd Kuli:
Roczen
, Millsaps, Reed.

Josh Cox:
I have got to go with Roczen. Small bike I am going with Justin Hill. Reed is my dark horse though.

Denaye Arnett:
450 Class: 1stDavi Millsaps, 2ndKen Roczen, 3rdRyan Dungey and you can’t count out our guy Deano! He is my wildcard pick in that class. 250 Class: 1stJustin Hill, 2nd Malcolm Stewart, 3rdJeremy Martin.
