Who/what inspired you to get onto a dirt bike and how long have you been racing/riding?

My mom, dad, and brother got me into dirt biking. We were always going to the track to watch my brother and Dad race, and I wanted to try it too! At first I didn’t like it much, but then I started to really love it halfway through last season. I started riding in 2022 with training wheels!

When not on a dirt bike, how do you keep yourself busy? Are you involved in any other sports or extracurricular activities?

When I’m not riding, I like to dance. I do Acro during the winter and I also play soccer!

As a racer, are there any obstacles you feel a female racer has to deal with that maybe a male racer does not?

Sometimes people think boys are better at riding, but girls can ride awesome too! You just have to show them what you can do.

From your first ride to where you are now what is something you never thought you would be able to overcome but have?

I used to be super-scared of going fast, riding up hills, and even falling. But now I’m not scared anymore and I go way faster and have so much fun!

Who is your all-time favourite rider and why?

Brook Greenlaw, would definitely be one of my favourite riders. She worked really hard to get to where she is at. I even get to train with her sometimes and she really helped me build my confidence and speed on the bike. Kevin Sullivan also helps me a lot too and I enjoy training with him. I like watching him ride, he is really good and works really hard to be where he is at. We watched him live at the Triple Crown Series last year which was fun!

What is your favourite track and why?

MotoPark! I raced there for the first time at an AMO event and it was so cool! It was hard, but I like tracks that make me try my best.

Who has been your biggest inspiration/hero on and off the track?

My mom and dad! They always cheer for me and help me keep going even when it’s hard.

Like just about everyone we talk to, her mom and dad are her biggest influences. | A Purdy Pics photo

Do you have any pre-race rituals?

I always give my mom and dad a fist pump and then I try to take deep breaths so I’m not nervous!

What are your biggest accomplishments to date?

Getting into the powerband and finally passing people instead of just following them! And I got two plaques for top 5 at AMO events which made me really happy!

What is the biggest lesson that racing has taught you so far?

To never give up, even when something is really hard. If you keep trying, it gets better.

What kind of track/dirt/terrain do you feel you excel at most and why?

I like hard-packed tracks best! Sand is tricky and makes my bike wobble more.

If you could give 1 piece of advice to a female of any age who wants to start riding what would it be?

Don’t be scared! Just believe in yourself and try your best. You can do it!

Rain or shine, keep an eye out for #12 Skylar Woodard this season. | A Purdy Pics photo

What was your first fear when you started riding and how did you overcome it?

I was really scared of gates and riding on the big track. My mom told me to try it when no one else was on the track, so I did, and now I love it!

What was your first race number and how did you choose it?

I picked number 12 because it just popped in my head and I thought it was perfect!
