Welcome to Week #44 of the DMX Frid’Eh Update brought to you by Dirt Care. Something different is happening here at DMX World HQ that hasn’t actually happened since Winter 2015 – Emily and I are actually going on a non-moto-related vacation! Last time, we went to an all-inclusive resort in Cuba when we both knew we weren’t huge fans of these types of things. This time, we’re going on a cruise. We’ve both always said we have no interest in ever going on a cruise. We sure know how to holiday, don’t we?!

It’s a bit of a long story how we came to find ourselves about to embark on our first-ever cruise through the Caribbean, so I’ll spare you the details. But now let’s add the fact that our first port of call was supposed to be Ocho Rios, Jamaica. Yes, Jamaica. Our Virgin Cruise will now head west to Cozumel, Mexico instead.

Can I also say that we watched a video on adult-only Virgin Cruises and there’s an ice cream store called “Lick Me Till Ice Cream.” Who knows what we’re getting ourselves into?!

Have you ever been on a cruise? Are they fun? Are they relaxing? Ours is adults only, so we’ve got that going for us, but that may open the doors for all kinds of nonsense. Oh well, it should be some next level people watching! I’ll let you know in a couple Mondays how it went. We have friends who say they love cruises and friends who say they’ll never go on one again. I wonder which we’ll be?

Let’s get to some moto, shall we?

There are a lot of moving parts in Canadian Motocross right now. We’ve got riders making moves and teams wondering who they’re going to sign to replace these moving riders.

Sebastien Racine has already made a post about saying farewell to his longtime home at MX101 FXR Yamaha. It’s become pretty common knowledge that he’ll make his way over to a 450 on the WLTN Kawasaki team moving forward. He rips on a 450 so this is going to be the move that I’m most interested in following along with.

The other big move is 2025 2nd place 250 rider Dylan Rempel “seeing red” in 2026 and beyond. With how this young rider from Aylmer, Ontario, has been improving lately this should be another interesting move to keep an eye on when the gates start dropping next season.

This rumoured move will see the Red Bull KTM Canada team without any known, signed riders for the upcoming season. We’ll have to wait and see what it all means for the orange squad.

Quinn Amyotte has signed with Priority MX while Wyatt Kerr has changed HVAC companies and gone over to the Guaranteed Comfort team.

Let’s have a look at the 2025 top 10’s and see how it looks:

250:

  1. Preston Kilroy – returning to MX101 to defend his title.
  2. Dylan Rempel – GDR Honda 250?
  3. Sebastien Racine – WLTN Kawasaki 450
  4. Blake Davies – haven’t heard about changes yet
  5. Dylan Walsh – still a possibility to return to WLT Kawasaki
  6. Noah Viney – staying down south with a green offer for MX?
  7. Ryder McNabb – taking a year off to get health in order
  8. Clayton Schmucki – haven’t heard about any changes
  9. Cole Pranger – coming back from broken femur
  10. Wyatt Kerr – Guaranteed Comfort, likely on a 250

450:

  1. Phil Nicoletti – too much $$$ to bring back
  2. Tanner Ward – returns with Priority MX
  3. Jess Pettis – returning to MX101
  4. Quinn Amyotte – Priority MX 450
  5. Lars Van Berkel – rumoured to be sniffing around
  6. Daniel Elmore – in Costa Rica this weekend but haven’t heard about 2026 plans
  7. Dylan Wright – returns to Honda Canada GDR Fox Racing
  8. Tanner Scott – haven’t heard about any moves
  9. Noah Porter – doing entire series with news to come
  10. Gavin Brough – haven’t heard if he’ll be back from Nevada

There are still quite a few moves to be made, so we’ll keep en eye out for them.

#44 was Noah Porter in 2025. Noah started really turning heads a couple years ago when he started being one of the top Intermediate riders to keep an eye on. He’s from Williams Lake, BC so you know he’s close with Brock Hoyer. OK, we all know he is. We did an interview with him last June and talked about it. You can read that one HERE.

He’s about ready to have that all important breakout ride as a Pro. You know it’s coming. He’s already been close but I think he’s got another one in the tank that will have even more people ready to back this hard-working 17 year old.

Here’s a look at his 2025 Canadian Triple Crown Series season:

Cracking the top 10 at his young age is nothing short of impressive! In fact, I actually thought he must have been 19 by now, but I was wrong. Let’s get to our interview.

Here’s what the 2023 Rick Joseph Award winner had to say when we contacted him this week. | Bigwave photo (Sorry, Brett)

Direct Motocross: Hey Noah, we haven’t talked to you in a while, so it’ll be good to catch up. You’ve been a rider we’ve watched for a few years now coming up through the ranks. How tough is it to realize your potential once you turn Pro? What’s the biggest hurdle you’ve noticed?

Noah Porter: Hi Billy, nice to talk to you.  I think it’s great to get out there with the competition.  I can see where I compare to the other guys and how much work I need to do to take it to the next step.  The biggest hurdle this year was making sure I had help at each of the races.  Thanks to my dad, a few friends, and Paul from LRX for flying in to help be my mechanics this year.

You actually won the Rick Joseph Award at the 2023 TransCan as showing the most potential as an Intermediate. Do you feel any pressure with those expectations or is it no big deal for a kid of 18 or 19?

Maybe I feel a little pressure but I am still so grateful to be chosen for that award.  It meant a lot to be picked for such a cool award at the TransCan.  It makes me pretty excited to keep getting better at this sport. And I’m actually still 17!

Oh wow! OK, you’re still very young! You finished 9th in the 450 class in 2025 with a best finish of 6th at River Glade. Can you take us through how you thought your series went? Were you happy with that 9th overall?

I thought my series went great for my first time doing the entire series. This is the first time I have been able to do the whole series and see all the Pro National tracks.  I did have a few not-so-great races, including running out of gas at Gopher Dunes and my 22nd overall finish at Ste. Julie.  Knowing what I know after those races, I have learned how to be better and avoid some upsets. I think it was sweet to get a top 10 finish this year.  My goal is to push myself and do better for next year.

Being from Williams Lake, BC, did you do any other sports or activities as a youngster or were you MX 24/7?

In Williams Lake I had to put my bike away when the snow and ice came.  I was MX all spring, summer and fall and then competitive hockey in the winter.  I grew up snowmobiling in the winter with my dad and then snowbiking in the last couple years.  I am lucky to be able to ride all year with Brock Hoyer on dirt bikes and snowbikes too.

You also seem like a hard-working kid. Do you have a job in the offseason. And if so, is that what you’ll do when racing is done?

Yes, I’ve been working as a Heavy Duty Mechanic for the past three years doing my apprenticeship as well as finishing up high school.  Before that I peeled logs at Peter Arnold Log Homes, who was one of my biggest sponsors this summer.  I am really lucky I work for a company that let me take time to go and race for the season.

Noah listened to our podcast with Tyler Gibbs and can relate to how difficult it can be being from out west. | Bigwave photo

Speaking of the future, what do you do for schooling? Any plans for that?

Actually I just finished my Level 2 Heavy Duty Mechanics course in Victoria today.  I have two weeks off and then I go back for a month to do my third year.  After that I need to work to get more hours for my apprenticeship.

I’m always interested in what our fast riders have planned for indoor racing. Will you take a look at any Supercross in the future? Will you race the West Coast AX series this month in Chilliwack?

One day I really would like to do Supercross, it’s just not possible this year.   Unfortunately, I also won’t be able to make it to Ryan Lockhart‘s West Coast AX series because of school.  Because my course is so short and intense I really need to focus on that at this time. But I really want to go, of course.

What’s the biggest race you’ve attended south of the border, if any? Have you ever actually raced down south?

I have never been on a dirt bike south of the border yet. Maybe this winter after I am done with school I can look at doing that.

What are your winter plans?

Right now I am excited to be on Vancouver Island where you can ride all year long. After school I am hoping to head South to train if possible. If I can’t, I want to ride my snowbike as much as possible.

It was interesting to hear what Tyler Gibbs had to say about being from the west coast and trying to make it as a Pro in Canada. Did you listen to the podcast interview? Can you relate to the struggles?

I did listen to the podcast interview.  I agree that it is more difficult for a West Coast rider just because of the distance to travel when most events are on the East Coast.  But I think if you are wanting to ride as a Pro, you just have to commit and make it happen.

Watch for Noah at the entire series again in 2026. He’ll have more information on that soon. | Bigwave photo

What are your racing plans for next summer? Will you chase the series again? Are you in talks with anyone for a ride?

I am definitely going to be chasing the series again.  I have something in the works that will help me make it happen.

*** UPDATE ***

We’ve got a new team on the circuit!

It will be Noah, Liam Dodds and Chase Nemeth.

Here’s the news from @dustyrocksmx on Instagram. Go give these guys a follow:

Updated response to the question:

I am definitely going to be chasing the series again.  I have something in the works that will help me make it happen. I am so happy to have signed as the 450 rider with the brand new Dusty Rocks MX team out of Alberta.  They have just released our new team today.

How did this team come together? And who is it?

The Dusty Rocks MX team was created by Travis Deglow with Les Nemeth as the manager. It is based out of Alberta. Les reached out to me this fall as they were finalizing the creation of the team. The focus is to support western riders. I’ll be the 450 rider, Liam Dodds will be the 250 rider and Chase Nemeth ride the Premix class.

OK, thanks for talking with us this week. Good luck in the future and is there anyone you’d like to thank?

Thanks for the talk.  I would like to thank all of my sponsors for the season: Peter Arnold Log Homes, Klim, Spectra Power Sports, Parts Canada, RMR Suspension, LRX Performance, Matrix Concepts, Mobius Braces, 100%, Atlas Brace, Lime Nine, Hoyer Enterprises, Schickworks Signs and Stitches.

Sebastien Racine Parts Ways with MX101 Yamaha

Sebastien Racine from Casselman, Ontario, has announced he has parted ways with his longtime home on the MX101 FXR Yamaha team. Much speculation has been circulating of late as he was seen riding a Kawasaki KX450F at Walton Raceway recently. This announcement opens the door for his riding in the premiere class in 2026 and beyond with the WLTN Kawasaki that won the Canadian Triple Crown Series 450 Motocross Nationals in 2025 with rider Phil Nicoletti.

We got to see Sebastien race a 450 at Pax Trax in Bunnell, Florida, a couple years ago and he set a track record, so we know he’s very good on the bigger bike! Stay tuned for more information on this as we receive it.

Here’s his thank you post on Instagram:

Preston Masciangelo Signs with Next Level Racing Team for 2026 Supercross

Preston Masciangelo from Brantford, Ontario, has just signed with the Next Level Racing to race Supercross in 2026.

Here’s the announcement from their Instagram page:

Background

Next Level Racing is an extension of LIT Ministries, started by Kris and Rhonda Fagala, originally to support college and young adult ministry in their hometown of Fort Worth, TX through missions and mentorship programs. LIT stands for Love Is Transforming, a belief that is core to their ministry. Kris, having a background in moto and racing, wanted to take this ministry into the moto industry to share the powerful message of the life and love of Jesus in that community as well.

Daniel Elmore is in Costa Rica to race Round 8 of their national series. What a cool opportunity for the rider from out in Telkwa, BC. I’m trying to find out how we can follow along and will post a live timing link if/when we hear back from them.

Guillaume St Cyr about to Head to Europe

Another rider making some big moves is Guillaume St Cyr from Victoriaville, Quebec. He’ll head to Germany next weekend to start his adventure. I know he’s still looking for a bit more support. Here’s his post from his Instagram page:

OFFICIAL GUAC🥑EURO SUPERCROSS CALENDAR
🔥2025-2026🔥

I’m proud to announce that I’ll be part of the KL Motors team @kl.motors and will be riding a Triumph TF 250-X on the ADAC German Supercross! 🇩🇪💪🏼

Here are the official dates for my upcoming European winter season. I’ll be competing the ADAC Supercross Championship in the Pro 250 class, and depending on my budget and feel on the bike, I’ll also participate in 1–2 AMA Supercross races on the East Coast of the U.S. to finish off my 2026 Supercross season.

GERMANY 🇩🇪 STUTTGART
@adacsupercrossstuttgart
November 7–8, 2025

ESTONIA 🇪🇪 TALLINN
@supercrosstallin
November 14–15, 2025

GERMANY 🇩🇪 DORTMUND
@sxdortmund
January 9–10–11, 2026

However, this requires a solid budget — I’ll need to go train in Florida starting in October to be ready to fly out to Europe in November. All of this is self-funded!
I’m therefore looking for sponsors who would be interested in collaborating with me.
All my main sponsors will have their logo featured on my racing jerseys in Germany.
For Estonia, which is a one-off event, I have the opportunity to put sponsor logos on the KTM SXF-350 bike and on my jerseys.
Then for the USA and Canada, my main sponsors will have their logos on my bikes, jerseys, tent, banners, etc., just like previous years.

It’s going to be an epic season, and I’m confident and ready to prove I belong at this level.
Thank you to everyone who’s been supporting me over the years — I appreciate it more than words can say. I couldn’t do this without you!
I understand that with the cost of living today, not everyone can donate or sponsor, and that’s okay — I still truly appreciate all your encouraging messages.
I’m honored to represent Quebec in a sport that means everything to me!

Let’s go racing! 💪🏼

Speaking of Blake Davies…

Blake Davies from Mission, BC finished an impressive 8th at the 2025 Red Bull Outliers event in Brooks, AB over a month ago!

OK, we’re hitting the road to start our holiday adventure. Have a great weekend, everyone, and wish us luck. The wifi situation doesn’t sound ideal on this ship, but I’ll do what I can when I can. If not now, when?

We’ll let these 2008 Sand Del Lee WMX riders say it this week: “See you at the races...” | Bigwave photo
