Let’s have a look at some of the people who were at Round 3 of the 2025 Canadian Triple Crown Series Motocross Nationals at Motocross Ste Julie in Ste Julie, Quebec, in this week’s Faces at the Races.

So, here’s the story: As we were standing along the fence-line during practice, I noticed they had 2 checkered flags at the finish line that were blowing horizontal in the breeze. As you approach the finish line, you do a jump and then sweep a right corner over the jump. The flags would definitely cause some confusion during the race. I mentioned it to Dylan Walsh who happened to be standing there and I guess he agreed. He spoke to Daryl “Spider Monkey” Murphy about it and up the flag pole he went to take care of the situation.
Quinn Amyotte knew this one was coming. That’s him peeking into the Red Bull KTM pits in the morning. I told him to just roll his 450 over and let’s be done with this! Quinn currently sits 4th in points on his KTM.
Payton Morningstar felt like everyone else on his walk back to his pits after seeing the track Sunday morning.
Sorry about this shot of you, Preston Masciangelo. However, that’s his privateer pit for Ste Julie. There’s a chance we see him pull double duty this week: Red Bud AMA followed by Gopher Dunes. Do it, Preston!
FXR Premix riders thrilled to be first on the track Sunday morning. Sorry guys, we didn’t have a Junior class or quads.
The fast, young BC connection. PS I think Liam Dodds is actually taller than I am, and look at Blake!
Yes, you recognize that last name on the left. That’s Marco Dubé’s son, Alexy Dubé.
#64 Wyatt Kerr was finally back in action after breaking his kneecap in the pre-season. Here’s how he summed it up: “Struggle bus this weekend 6-6 moto scores. Very thankful to be back at the track with the team. Gonna kick the ball and build some momentum for round 4.”
I’m guessing I probably have this same shot from the last time we were at Ste Julie…in 2012!
Team Canada MXON Manager Kourtney Lloyd busy selling the merch.
Nice shirt! Oh, and I still have a few left. Who hasn’t received theirs yet?
Sure, I may want to make fun of this, but I bet his elbow isn’t all messed up like mine is!
Peter Knoop showing the exact same look every team owner had Sunday morning. Looks expensive out there, doesn’t it?
Jim Scott doesn’t care, he’s got roofing money!
Crayden Dillon doesn’t care, he’s got Snowcross champion’s money…and Jim Scott’s roofing money.
That’s the new addition to the Lissimore family.
Matt Young and TJ Lanphear were REALLY stuck in 250 qualifying. It was nice to see them work together to get unstuck.
Al Dyck said he thrived in these type of conditions. I know they had to replace at least one engine on this day.
It was good to see Jeremy McKie back at the track. He’s still working on getting his right wrist up to 100%. Here he is with his good friend, Dylan Wright, going over lines.
Timing and scoring took place inside the Stark Sprinter.
Here’s Jared Allison’s little set-up beside the GDR Honda pits. Jared pulled his suspension to prove he’s serious about being done for the season. We’ll see…
Ryder McNabb and his good buddy Brayden Kalte from the Guaranteed Comfort team.
I feel like defending WMX East champion Jamie Astudillo sort of came into this season without enough fanfare. She finished 1-1 and gave me yet another photo with that elbow in wave that I have so many of.
Say what you want about coming back to race when you’re a bit older, but I bet this feeling never gets old.
We’ll circle back to this…
Kaven Benoit racing also meant the return of Jerome Therrien.
I know Crayden doesn’t like losing, especially to an old man. You’d think he’d be used to it by now after last year’s bicycle ride…
With some time to kill while live TV interviews were being done, Mathieu Gervais asked me on stage to snap a crowd photo.
It looks like Austin Jones was a little quick getting his merch on top of Jonathan Bergeron’s head here. One or two holes looser next time…
Elbow out. Nice.
Katrine Ferguson has really upped her game in 2025 and was happy to run closer to Jamie’s pace.
Eve Brodeur showed up to check out the WMX racing. She needs some work done to her shoulder but we should see her on the track in at Deschambault.
And that means MO was getting giggy with it too.
We don’t get a lot of “glamour shots” in the mens racing.
Hannah Cole got herself up on the podium in the 2nd moto after a tough first.
She was happy.
That’s track owner Jessica Pepin. She was a featured rider in our ‘Out of the Blue’ WMX column a while back.
Pre-race nap by our USA Dirt Care guy TJ Lanphear. After the stress of getting stuck, he was pumped to learn his earlier lap put him up in 10th place heading to moto 1.
Proud new dad smile.
That’s our old buddy PO Levigne. I used to see him and his dad at all the big, American amateur nationals a bunch of years back.
Charles Charlton was on site but said that with only 1 bike the muddy conditions were just too much of a $$$ risk.
I don’t know if you watched my MTB Loop of the track but I bumped into Noah Porter and I asked him if he’d fallen. Yes, I knew I had this shot. Sorry, Noah.
I don’t know whether to go with some sort of Narcos meme here or more of a religious one. You decide.
Sebastien Racine showed he has the pace to run the leader’s speed. Now to grab a holeshot and BE the leader.
Ryder is dealing with some sort of illness and wasn’t too happy with how things went.
See what I’m saying?
This guy, however… Preston Kilroy is looking pretty unbeatable right now. He’s got an 18-point lead over Ryder after 3 rounds.
Pushing Sam Gaynor’s bike back to the pits after a rough moto 1. He crashed in turn 1 and somehow must have spun the rad cap loose.
Yep, there’s definitely something missing here.
I was really impressed with how fast Izack Guadagno was going in moto 1. He dropped back to 15th but looked really good early.
Mathieu took advantage of some time and grabbed MX101’s Kevin Tyler up on stage to talk about going 1-1 in 250 and 450 for the first time. It was probably the highlight of the day.
Dylan is not happy getting 2nd place.
Phil Nicoletti has been pretty up front about getting his butt kicked by Dylan and Jess Pettis. But he’s still doing the same to the other 27 riders behind him!
Recognize the guy on the left? That’s JC Bujold. He’s busy working these days but it was cool to see him checking out the racing.
Permanent marker for this Jess fan.
It was a tough day on parts.
How about Dylan Rempel getting his first-ever overall podium in 2nd?! I know he’s got a full track at his place this week over in Aylmer.
Marc-Antoine Genereux’s Motosport Saint Césaire logo was prominent on the MX101 bikes this week.
As Rodney Dangerfield would say, “I tell ya, it was rough!”
And we’re back. Kaven took a nasty start straight crash and was in some pain afterward. 1-1 will help make it feel a bit better.
I know Faces at the Races isn’t about racing shots, but that’s a holeshot by Kaylie Kayer!
A 5K Fun Run broke out during an early moto.
Peter Derry, where are you?!
There he is. It was great to see Peter and Ryan Derry make an appearance. I didn’t even get a chance to talk to them.
And Dario Zecca was there running the board.
Robbie Wageman racing an electric Stark for the first time in Triple Crown MX competition. No, it wasn’t prime conditions for the maiden voyage. I’ve got a message out to him for a racap interview…
It was a day to forget for Dylan Walsh. He was forced out of both motos and slipped to 6th in 250 points.
I definitely don’t want to say too much here, but Noah Viney was very good friends with young Aiden Zingg who passed away in a crash at Mammoth. It was an emotional day for them. Sorry for the loss, Noah.
Confidence is a dangerous thing and Dylan is full of it now.
I think they said they’re even going to put some batteries in the headset this week!
Clayton Schmucki has been quietly getting the job done. He sits 9th, just outside the top 5.
Young Alex Guadagno lined up and almost grabbed a holeshot! His day didn’t go well from there, unfortunately.
Dietz, Glossettes again?! That was a stretch, I know.
Hmm, the 250 points don’t look right because Bobby Gravel finished with 12 points at Ste Julie.
Zach Ufimzeff could pull the holeshot or start last, it seems he’s still going to finish 11th. He’s getting himself back up to speed.
For the record Chris DaSilva, I rode over to where you were pitted but you guys were already packed up and gone!
Domination.
OK Paul Kingsley, grab everything and we’ll see you at Gopher Dunes. Thanks for reading and we’ll “See you at the races…
