Off the Cuff with Jacqueline Ross | April 2025
Greetings, Humans,
Happy Summer! If you live in Florida it is already 90 degrees or 32 Celcius. After my column last month, Billy dug into the Direct Motocross vault, gathered a few photos and sent them my way. Drum roll please, as they are from 10 years ago! The time when I made a return to Canada to race! Straight out of my dad’s pickup truck and with money that I saved up for a few years in a Michael Jordan shoebox!! That’s a great story for another day. As a matter of fact, Billy, do you still have that interview saved?

I was quite perplexed when I viewed these photos as I wasn’t sure what to write about. Funny enough, how things always seem to come together for me at the divine time.
It’s so wild to type this out and realize the value of time, moments, and people; how they impact us and the memory that lives on. Am I getting old? Nah, just wiser.
As I was listening to an interview with Joe Rogan and UFC Flyweight Champion, Rose Namajunas, she mentioned something that had me pausing the interview, rewinding it 5 times, and writing it down! Here is the noteworthy portion of the interview, Joe comments, “It’s about transcending whatever you think you are and becoming something better.” Rose responds, “That’s what I think I would like to get people to understand, like other fighters, you need your opponent, just as much as you need your training partners, your teammates, your coaches, it’s your dancing partner, it’s a show.”
How true and relative in sport, life, and just anything! Think about it, each of our lives is a movie and we are the main character. However, everyone we cross paths with is necessary. Some come in for a reason, a season, or a lifetime. The film keeps rolling and each connection we make has the ability to shape us into who we decide to become.
I’ll leave you with a quote from my guy Keith Richards, “It’s really good to be here, and as I always say, it’s really good to be anywhere.”
Action,
Jacqueline
